Hi Ladies,

I'm pretty through being natural-just tired of it. So I've decided to texlax.
What is the mildest relaxer you've tried or know of?
Is it one of those "kiddie kits"?

Back in the day I used Revlon mild & it kept me wavy but that was so long ago & the formula may have changed.

Thanks in advance!

Your hair looks fabulous natural!!! Even though I'm relaxed, I'm sorry to hear that you are tired of being natural. If you don't mind me asking, but why are you tired of being natural?

To answer your question, I'm not sure which is the mildest. As I have recently studied every thread recently about relaxing and self relaxing, it seems that members put oil/conditioner in their relaxer to lower the strength.

I hope you would consider your thoughts of going back to relaxer. But I know you have to do what is best for you.

Edited: Disregard my question about why you want to relax. I just reread your post...you want to be texlaxed. So, I see you want to at least keep some of your texture.

Look for a relaxer where SH is way down on the ingredient list...like #7 or8

I believe Vitale is good. ...the mild one "IDEAL"

I like your hair natural. It is beautiful.

I've heard that Revlon does process really slowly,
However, Mizani butter blends for fine/color treated hair also doesn't make you go bone straight; but I think you can buy any relaxer and mix in a 1/4 cup of oil for it to texlax you

Awww....I love your natural hair, too. But I feel ya. I went from natural to texlaxed. I use Silk Elements Shea Butter.

I started using Alter Ego Linange Lye with Shea butter about 3mths ago and I think it is waaaay milder than Mizani BB which is what I was previously using. I started leaving Alter Ego on 20mins and I still become really underprocessed which is why I use it to texlax, my roots are still really wavy like new growth. Mizani BB I could only leave it on my fine strands for about 10mins or else I will get bone straight.

Yes, Alter Ego Linange Lye is super mild. It takes forever to process my hair with this relaxer.

Thanks Simplyhair! Yes I'm ok with keeping some texture so I can wear some more natural looking styles, but the maintenance of natural hair is getting to me. I find myself ripping my hair out in detangling sessions just to it over with & I really don't care.
My daughter said they're sick of looking at my bun lol!!

Bottom line-I'm getting lazier & lazier!!! I really want to wear a straight style for more than 1 or 2 days which is not happening now(I live in a very humid area, even in the winter so it's frizz city)

ETA, thank you ladies for the responses & compliments. I'm going to look in to each of these-hopefully I can find them locally.

I too am natural and debate about texlaxing. In January a bought Linange shea butter texturizer. I ph tested it and it was about 11.5 ph. I haven't actually used it yet. I keep going back and forth in my head.

I use Silk Elements lye Mild version. My airdried hair looks like my natural hair, just a little looser. It's kind of like a droopy afro lol. But it's easy to get straight or do whatever I want. Right now I'm wearing a braidout and it pretty much resembles a natural textured head.

Elucence Normal lye relaxer is very mild. when i did a virgin relaxer a couple years ago, it was the best relaxing experience i ever had. no burning at all. my hair was still thick & healthy. i just BC'd in December after transitioning for 19 months, but i really think i will be going back to relaxers at the end of this year. i don't want bone straight hair though, so i want to texturize/texlax.

i was going to use Elucence again and wrote Pleasant Image about which to use for texturizing and Lisa recommended the Gentle formula for that. but i was reading the threads on the Influance relaxer and someone said they are even better than Elucence and they considered Elucence one the best.
