Hey Friends -

My friend girl calls me this morning (she is not on the LHCF but I hipped her to MT) - anyway she is like crazy frantic because her hair is hard and tangled. She has relaxed hair and was attempting to rollerset. She had used the MT the night before and DC'ed with Silk Elements Megasilk mixed with EVOO. She was on the right track as far as moisturizing was concerned. I went ahead and rollerset her hair (and it was hard to comb even with the Lacio Lacio)

Check this out...when her hair dried - it was just as soft and lustruous as ever:blush: (she has great hair - I really don't know why she uses MT)- I have roller set her hair quite a few times and it never felt as hard as it felt this morning and still once it dried it was like we did not just get "caught up in the struggle" - suprisingly enough, she only lost a few strands...

Her reggie is MT twice a week and deep condition afterwards...

Thoughts on how to remedy the "hardness" while wet??

Weird. Really weird. Hard when wet and soft when dry? That's a new one. Sorry, I'm no help, there. :scratchch

Is she putting the MT on the scalp only or all over her hair? You're only supposed to put the MT on your scalp only  That would be the only reason I can think of that would make it "hard".

I went through this last week. But I lost a lot of hair because of it. I put a teaspoon of salt in my instant conditioner and the hair loss stopped immediately. After that I DC'd with my normal stuff. Works like a charm. JustKiya has a thread on it.

hm, i forgot my reply after i read Cherezr's-good idea!...what was i bout to say?

oh, yea, she should apply it to her scalp only. and even then, i still had to cut back on my protein.

but soft hair after hardness? don't ask me, pal.

I put MT on my scalp and on my hair sometimes. I was putting it on my hair once a week followed by a dc. I haven't done it as much lately because I don't like too many steps. I don't think putting it on the hair is problem UNLESS you have issues with protein. My hair doesn't have a problem with it.

OP, my guess is that the protein made it hard.

i'm curious, I was going to ask you today about MT. I went on one of the old threads and it seems like people were putting it on the hair as well. I believe on line it says that you can use it as live in, conditioner etc. I have been hearing good things about this product and was thinking of getting some. I am very simple with my reggie. I just wash, deep condition 1x a week and rollerset. I wanted to use it as a dc then use my Humectress. What do you guys think? I also wanted to know has anyone found it in a regular pet store (sounds funny wanting to put pet products in my hair)?

Can't wait to see and hear from the people that is on the MT challenge.

i used it on my hair at first, but it was too much protein, and i was goin through it too fast. for $30 a pop, i'm not tryin to pay that every month!

I am going to tell her try that...Thanks Cherezr, I should have known better since I said I was going to do it myself...:) It just tripped me out how her hair was trippin' while wet but dried beautifully...

I actually use it as a DC - leave in for about 30 minutes to an hour - rinse and do an overnight moisturizing DC with either Humectress or AO HSR...I only do it a couple a days per week - I have not had any issue but I use it sparingly..my hair is so fine I don't really need a lot and I make sure I concentrate on my problem areas - nape and edges...

So far my MT has lasted for 2 months and I still have more than half a bottle - like I said I use it very sparingly but my hair is getting thicker and much stronger...

What's Mega-Tek? I googled it and I came across Amazon.com and it said there that it was for Pet grooming. Right? If so how does it work?

You can use Mega-Tek on your hair. That's what it's made for!
She must have mixed it with something or used another product....

Hi MJR!!!

It is made for horses - the horse version has made a human version called Ovation which is more expensive

Check out this link...

I also recommend putting Megatek and Ovation in the search engine for this board - there is a plethora of information out there not to mention all of the knowledgeable sisters that use the product...

HTH

Maybe her hair needed clarifying-not sure. You can use MT on your hair as a leave in or as a DC. LHCFers came up with the idea of using it on your scalp only.
