I have really dense, thick hair which seems to swell, especially after being washed(It takes a really, really hard press to get my hair to lay down) do you think the maxiglide would work for me. I'm considering purchasing it so that I can cut down on going to the salon but once every two months. But I NEED to have it straightened at least once a month. I'm looking for a flat iron that would work well on my hair. Or--if you all could suggest another type of iron. Oh yeah, and i'm not relaxed.

I really like the Maxi Glide and I have very, very, VERY!! thick hair. :) :p

But . . . you have to be very careful, because one of the flat sides has little teeth that is supposed to detangle hair while it's being ironed. Sometimes I actually could feel my hair pulling out, but I think I was a little heavy handed. Be gentle!! It does work and you will get a very straight press. My hair actually looks like it's been relaxed, that's how straight my hair gets.

Just be careful. I've been using my sister's stove w/a flat iron for the last few weeks and my hair actually stays straighter longer. Do you know anyone who has one so you could test it out before you buy?

If you don't want to make the investment, you may want to try **Paul Mitchell Straightening Creme (it's in a tube) and Matrix All Weather Hair Spray. AMAZING PRODUCTS!! Well, worth the money.

Both my hair and my daughter's hair are very thick and the maxiglide worked for us. It made my daughter's hair less bulky and straight.

The maxiglide does have detangling pins. Make sure to detangle or comb thru each section before you go over it with the maxiglide. This will keep you from pulling hair out. It also comes with a flat plate that does not hav the little 'teeth'.

i got a quick question.....after you use it and you wash your hair---does all of your hair go back nappy or do you have some straight strands left? i always have that problem when i try to straighten my hair.:look:

My daughter's hair reverts when I wash. I use the maxiglide on 4 so I don't damage her curl pattern. I only use the maxiglide on her hair every now and then. I used it this past Tues. The time before then was at least 3 months ago.

Thank you ladies for responding. Neijon, does it get as straight as with the marcel irons you were using? I know you said that the stove irons hold the press longer--but are the initial results the same. Oh yeah and I'll definitely will be checking out those products for when i straighten at home. Simplecee, do you like the regular plate or the flat plate better? And Browndilocks, do you have a Sedu? What are your results like. Cincy, do you have pics?

Okay let me stop asking so many questions :D

Are there many natural 4a/b's using this iron with good results? Sorry if I've just missed it but i've been through most of these maxiglide posts.
