I received my Maxiglide MP today and I was so excited. I unpacked it, read the instructions and proceeded to try it out. My hair was already flat ironed for the week so it was pretty straight. I am 9 weeks post relaxer and have about 2 more weeks to go. Anyway, I liked how it straightened and gave some sheen but when I looked at the plate with the little coils on it there was some of my hair in there!!! I did not use pressure like the instructions said. Could I have done something wrong? I had the heat on 4. Someone help me please!!! :wallbash:

Did you comb through your hair first? See now I'm scared to try mine.

long hair or broken short hair? the maxiglide has removable teeth so if all you saw were long strands (around your reg hairlength) i wouldnt worry about it. it could just be the shed hair that coming out from using the teeth.

I just tried mine. I am seeing the same thing. But I haven't even made it half-way through my head. But I think I'm going to stop and just 2 strand twist it back up again... :perplexed

Okay yall got me scurred!

But, I am excited to try it for myself. I am determined to make this thing work for me. I see too many ladies with the same hair as mins 4a/b relaxed that use it.

I love mine!! I don't think I will flat iron again!! You should use a THIN toothed comb and...not rake through, but comb slowly...then use the maxigluide after...or..I found if the maxiglide will only go half way down the hair and then tangle, I will comb the rest and maxigluide the rest.

Same thing happened to me with my Maxiglide XP...I was just ripping my hair out :wallbash:

Luckily it comes with a flat plate, so I removed the one w/ the teeth and all was good:grin:

That's exactly what I was thinking. I think i'll try the smooth, flat plate next time. But then I think, why did I spend 100.00 on this think? I could have just stayed with the ceramic one I had. I may return. We'll see.:ohwell:

Oh, and by the way it was short broken looking hairs. That told me it was ripping it off or something. And I did comb through each section with a really fine-toothed comb. Scary!!!!

i'm using mine right now! i'm getting a broken short hair every once in a while. I used the fine tooth too! i'm think i'm gonna use my more stronger heat protectant just for the cones. then maybe those combs will slide thru better.

but other than that..i luv mine....that steam burst is hmm hmm good! lol

:perplexed: yikes............i have to admit the comb plate scares me, thats why i havent purchased one. that an all flatirons seem to work pretty much the same to me. hope you find an alternative.

I just saw one of the new campaigns on HN for this ting and the creator said that the comb plate is like having a built in brush, so I would expect there to be hairs in it unless you comb each section first until you can pass a fine tooth comb thru it.

Oh, no, I don't like the sound of this ... mine is enroute to be delivered as we speak ... i'm rethinking this whole transaction now. I hope someone post some good results ... and soon :nono:

I just got mine and it works wonders for your hair I am so happy with it. I noticed just a little in the teeth, but it was worth the finish I love the steam and the ending result.

Thanks for the information. I will not be buying one anytime soon because there is no way with my thick, tangly, 3c -4a hair, can I pass a fine tooth comb through my hair.:nono:

Maybe it's a good thing that I missed the sale. God is trying to tell me something. A few months ago, I ordered the miniglide from eBay and never received it. I had to file a dispute to get my refund. No needless to say, I've not had good luck getting this item in my hand, so maybe God is trying to tell me that it's not right for my hair, especially since my hair is so fine and delicate. I don't use direct heat often at all, anyway.

I received mine yesterday and used it last night. I was pulling my hair out too. I had short and long pieces coming out, and I used a small teeth comb first. I changed the plate to the flat one without the teeth, and got much better results. I really like the steam burst on it. I don't think I will use it often.

I think that is one of the pros of the maxiglide..the comb on the iron.

I haven't received mine yet. Matter of a fact, I don't believe it has even shipped yet. But, I will get it a shot on at least a couple pieces of hair.

Ladies I am curious is this new maxiglide mp smaller than the original maxiglide? I missed getting one this go around and wonder if I should just get the original again.

Oh yeah for me when I was seeing hairs in the plates I couldn't figure out why. Then I realized I was holding it upside down and I can't squeese the plate together like other flat irons. Once I did these two things I did not see anymore hair in the plate.

The problem is that you have a Maxiglide. :lachen:

I agree! it was much better when u don't fully clamp down on the plates. (the instructional video said not to do it either...[yea i watched it]lol).

I also can not use such a thick section to flat iron either. I def. lost hairs. both shed and broken. But it wasn't enuff to make into a ball. It seemed about the same amount of hairs i would lose when i wash/rollerset/flatiron. I still think its a good investment! but its not going to be something i use every week either. I'll see how the flat plate works

I just received mine in the mail today and I will use it this weekend. I will follow SimplyCee's way in doing it...makes so much sense. I will give a report when I'm done.

I'm excited about it....!

cool, I did not know this. thanks for posting this silvergirl.

my sig pic is a new one I just used the maxiglide and I love it. you are not supposed to sqeeze it together like reg flat irons. I love it! I even did my daughters natural hair and it came out great, she looks like she has a relaxer.

there are a ton of products made specifically for heat protection (if that's what ur talking about). I prefer sprays rather than serums but that's my choice. Ion Heat Protectant is my main one. But I also Silk Elements heat protectant, which is pretty nice too!
