Marine Protein helps restore hair to a healthy condition. By gently coating the hair cuticle, it leaves hair looking shiny and smooth.
I bought some Mermade, too. Someone mentioned it a while back. It was one of the few store bought products my grandmother liked. I bought it for old time's sake.
My hair feels very soft afterwards. I'm starting to wonder if protein conditioners aren't supposed to make my hair feel stiff... I always thought a slightly stiff feeling meant it was working.
I believe that a protein conditioner that penetrates will make the hair feel alittle stiff because it is "restructurizing" the hair (adding structure with additional protein)
With one that coats the cuticle only, it would make sense that the hair would feel smooth and not hard.
I have some Mermade that I've yet to use. I must give it a try

Sassygirl,
You know I want to know more about this now that you've mentioned it. What can I say, L'Oreal is good to my hair.
I used to see it everywhere. Now I only see it at Sally's in the back corner with all the oils and Wella Kolestral. I could have sworn they made sample packets, but all my Sally's carries is the 16. oz jar for $11.99.
[Paraphrasing from the back label]
...penetrates the hair to fill in damaged and porous hair shafts; helps reduce split ends; smooths hair texture; imparts a brilliant, natural shine. It helps achieve the protein equilibrium which characterizes healthy looking hair.
... pH of 3.0 normalizes the alkalinity of the hair, allowing for instant detangling...
...can be used to maintain normal hair or to treat excessively damaged hair.
They say you can use it for 5-30 minutes w/ heat or as a daily hairdressing. It's pale green, thick like a rich body lotion and the smell reminds me of deodorant soap (Coast, Irish Spring...).
If you have a Big Lots near some of them sell Aquamarine conditioner by Revlon I used to use it in the 1980's its an old conditioner and its only about 99 cents and it has the same ingredients
The ingredients from the mermade conditioner sounds like it has too much alcohol. When reading the ingredients it is good to remember that the chemicals listed at the top of the list make up most of the product. Alcohol is drying to the scalp and hair. However, if it works for most, maybe it is a good product. Penni
The alcohols that are listed are actually fatty alcohols (esters) - which are light moisturizers for the hair. They are not the same as SD-alcohol or Isopropyl Alcohol (which are drying agents).
I didn't get it yet. But I'm going to check it out tomorrow when I go out and buy up every bottle of the soon-to-be discontinued Lekair Cholesterol in the state of SC...
I finally made it to Big Lots. They had one bottle of the Aquamarine Conditioner on the shelf. Extra Body Formula. I'm assuming they have a normal and a dry formula... It's not nearly as thick as the Mermade, but I'm going to try it soon. Thanks CICI24!
I swear there are hundreds of people in the Columbia area lurking on this board. LUST, Daily Defense Tender Apple, Aubrey GPB, etc... The shelves are bare! Even the Pantene and V05 sections are looking a little skimpy!
