I wore my hair flat-ironed at the family reunion, and my mom complimented me on my hair. I thought that I had left me comb at home, so I asked to borrow hers. All she had was a synthetic brush with a million bristles. I told her that I don't use brushes, so I was going to go to the drugstore. Guess what?

My mom said, "Wait, Mama (my deceased grandmother) didn't use brushes either." (Grandma, 85, had BSL hair at the time of her passing).

I replied, "They can break your hair off."

She said, "Maybe that is what I am doing wrong."

Y'all, my mommy is finally paying attention to me, so I wanted to know what type of brush would be better for her hair. She has coarse, salt and pepper 4b hair. I want to buy a brush that gives the same stimulation as her current Goody synthetic one does w/o so much damage. Any suggestions?

Goody makes a lot of brushes...what does she want to do with it? If she's wanting to smooth her hair down, you might try a boar bristle brush. Just make sure that it has softer bristles.

Yeah, def a boar's bristle brush. Scuni has a new line of them and they are really nice! Look in target or walmart for the best price.
