I placed this under this board because it definitely involves hair care all the way!

My husband works weekends, and my wash day regimen is sometimes a little lengthy (pre-poo, wash, tea/coffee rinse, (protein treatment/moisturizing balancer), deep conditioner, detangle, roller set, clean up, etc.)

I try to zip through everything and often eliminate whatever steps I can, but I still can never seem to make it in time before they wake up from their naps!

For you ladies with kids under 4--how do you do it?? I'm too exhausted by the end of the day; so I try to fit in in the middle. Bad idea? Which steps would you cut out if you were in a hurry? (By the way, I'm very blessed that, once a month, I do receive a little reprieve when my mother comes up to visit the twins. She'll take them out for the day so I can really get into giving my hair the attention it needs). But other than those times, I can't ever do more than what seems like a wash and go! How can we keep up the health of our hair under time constraints of 2 hours or less every week for a wash?

How do you ladies do it? Do you ever do it in chunks throughout the day? What lessons have you learned about hair care when pressed for time due to family needs? TIA!

I prepoo and detangle overnight night before. I don't tea rinse. When I did involve tea, I just used a spray bottle with it in there and used it under my dc or as part of my leave in. I can usually dc in about 20 minutes under my dryer or Hair Therapy Wrap. Protein treatments are not weekly...if so, they only need to be 15 minutes. Same with dcs as long as there is a heat source involved.

Rollersetting takes forever for me. I usually style in twists or buns. However, if that is what you like, plan your parts in advanced.

HTH.

This is primarily why my hair has suffered, well that and postpartum shedding, since the birth of my son. I've relied on leaving conditioner in only 5-10 mins and blow drying and flat ironing too much as well because it's quicker. I really need to think about bunning or halfwigs or doing sew-ins this summer because despite trying to get back into healthier habits I really just need to back off the heat and give my hair a break. The only suggestions I can make is maybe start your hair routine a little before dh gets home. (Make this a take-out nite). I wash my hair in the kitchen so that I am still visible to my ds. I have a bunch of toys for him and put him in his pack n play and make sure he is full and he will let me get at least hair washed. I put the conditioner on and then dh usually gets home and I'm able to sit under dryer for 15 mins. etc... it takes a little creativity with anything you're trying to do with kids. But I refuse to sacrifice my appearance any further:lol: it's gotten MUCH easier now that's he's older. When he was under a year I wasn't even really doing anything to my hair except going to the salon once every 3-4wks....if that:nono:

I dc overnight the Friday night before usually, then I just do my wash routine Saturday morning either before my son wakes up or while he is eating breakfast. It saves me a lot of time.

If I want to rollerset, I wait till I can get a good span of time and do it in the downstairs bathroom with the door open so I can keep an eye on him. I rarely get to hood dry anymore, so I sleep in my curlformers unless I know DH has a free hour.

I'll have to adjust further once we have the second one
