@ManeStreet, the girls at Sally's seem to me like they were forced to go to work and would rather not be there. None of them have ever had a clue about anything. I bet you she told you that because she didn't want to go look or didn't have a clue what you were talmbout. I have gone in there to ask for Curlformers and they told me with a straight face they didn't stock them. I asked them to show me where their curlers were, and they pointed me to the aisle that was was filled with a variety of Curlformers packs.

I will never forget years ago when I learned about S Curl from @adrienne0914 :blowkiss: and went to the store to look for it. I asked them if they had it, they said no. I asked them where their Luster's products were kept. The chick looked me straight in the eye and said they don't sell Luster's products. Then what the heck is the "everyone and their momma's knows" Pink Oil Moisturizer???

I don't know how one could work in a place and not make every effort to learn as much as possible about what's in stock so as to be able to help customers, or at least care enough to make an effort to help folks find stuff they need, even when you don't know for sure. And it's more disappointing coz these unhelpful people are fellow sistahs. I get better service at the Asian-owned beauty supply store. That Korean guy has helped me find products and decide on flat-irons better than any of my sistahs at Sally's.

I only go to Sally's when I know what I'm looking for and have time to go find it myself.

This exact thing happened to me as well. I called a BSS on Queens Chapel RD on the Maryland/ DC boarder. I was told by the girl who answered the phone that they are not allowed to quote any prices over the phone. She also said they can tell you if they sell certain wig brand like Model Model but they cannot tell you which wig units they have under that brand. If you are interested in a particular wig Model Model makes you have to go into the store to see if they have it in stock.

by the way, i haven't used S-Curl in ages. i like the thickness and control of applying World of Curls better. plus, once it's dry, it's dry. i don't feel any residue on my hair/hands.

Hmm... I'll keep World of Curls in mind if ever S Curl is unavailable. I usually turn to Hawaiian Silky 14-in-1 in lieu of S Curl but I'll keep WOC in mind. You didn't lead me wrong with S Curl so I an easy sell on anything you're promoting.

Hmm... I'll keep World of Curls in mind if ever S Curl is unavailable. I usually turn to Hawaiian Silky 14-in-1 in lieu of S Curl but I'll keep WOC in mind. You didn't lead me wrong with S Curl so I an easy sell on anything you're promoting.

Nonie i think with the S Curl the other thing that bothered me was the spraying of it. the stuff got all over. i've used Hawaiian Silky as well. i think it's almost identical to WOC in consistency. so stick with that if it's working, girl.

so many beauty supply stores are trifling like this. i don't understand it either! not giving info over the phone isn't going to make me come it. it will make me go somewhere else!!

When I worked at a grocery store we weren't allowed to give cigarette prices over the phone either. But we have a big problem of people coming from other states (where their prices are super high) and cleaning us out then resaling the goods for triple what they paid in my state. Money wise it didn't hurt the store I worked for but the costumers sure didn't like having to go some place else for there cigarettes.

What I do is squirt it into my hand (really fingers) and apply to a narrow section of my hair from base to ends, comb through then do the same to the next section. This is why my hair can go for days without needing reapplication; and because I apply ENOUGH to every strand instead of just spraying and letting it fall where it may, I don't find myself with a lot of gunk. Each strand is bathed with just what it needs, nothing more. I think when you spray randomly, you're likely to have more than you need in certain areas and not enough in others. Doing it the way I do means no stickiness anywhere. Just nice fluffy hair that's a joy to touch.

Girl, I didn't know you use the gel. No wonder it's sticky to you! I use the spray. It's light and moisturizes without making hair sticky or icky. I did try the gel and... Hated it! (Insert Men on Film (In Living Color) here )

ETA: But I'm intrigued that WOC doesn't have some sticky mess in a jar...:scratchch

I know some BSS in Atlanta say they don't like to give out stock information over the phone because there have been so many smash and grab weave heists. So they won't disclose the type of inventory they have hoping that people will come in and case the place so they will have them on camera in plain clothes in the event that something does happen. Is it an effective tactic... doubt it. Does it make for bad business... clearly

AutumnDreams, I don't follow. So even if theft were common for wigs, how is not naming them going to stop the theft? Won't people just go there to find out and steal? It's not like it's Fort Knox where the wigs are out of sight/reach and so you won't have access so telling you means there's no way of you finding out what's behind the vault. Color me confused.

I didnt even think about the theft factor. I know that particular bss got robbed because sometime last year they had a sign on the entrance. The sign had a screen shot from their security camera footage of this middle aged black man walking down an aisle grinning ear to ear in the store.

The sign said "Do you know this man?" I almost pee'd myself. The picture of him was clear as day. If someone knew him theyd easily recognize. What tickled me was the huge grin he had. Hott mess.

But what could he have stolen? All the weave is out of reach.
