I just wanted to share some websites with those who may have questions regarding vitamin supplementation. I think it is important that we all make informed decisions when it comes to what we are putting in our bodies. For example, if someone is on medication, it is important for them to know whether or not taking biotin, MSM, etc. will create a toxic interaction for them. Another example is that I did not know that zinc affects your iron stores and vice versa. Hence, taking both of these supplements would have to be spread out and not taken at the same time to benefit at all from taking them. Also, some vitamins NEED other vitamins in order to be absorbed. For example, Vitamin E may not be asborbed because I am deficient in Vitamin K (I just made this scenario up).

This topic is beneficial to the Skin Care and Health/Fitness forums as well but since this one (Hair) is the most widely viewed I settled to post here.

Please post websites and other resources you use for your research.

Tracy,

I agree with you.

I would mention an old one 'cause I have mentioned it so many times before, but it is a comprehensive bound source: Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Balch and Balch. Same thing with Prescription for Herbal Healing by Balch.

For those of you who feel like you are starting from ground zero, pick up the tiny pamphlet books by Avery. They have numerous ones in question/answer format. Topics include just about every vitamin and plenty of other supplements like grapeseed extract, MSM, and the green superfoods like chlorella, spirulina, etc. The Vitamin Shoppe used to carry most of these.

I would highly recommend the Willner Chemists website. They have tons of information which is superior. In addition, their books available for purchase are incredible. There are more than I can say.

Also, the Journal of Clinical Nutrition has some fabulous articles.
