Hey Ladies,
Recently I posted a thread in order to help a friend out. I wanted to be sure that I was giving her the right advice concerning her hair. In my opinion, she didnt want to risk the good look for the hair growth initially, but she was able to find something mid way (a simple ponytail).

For me, I dont have a good look w hen I am stretching unless I do the tight bantu knots. But they get really dry from being exposed for so long and I have severe breakage.
I have a funny shaped head so scarves dont look good on me, neither do they stay up on my head. And it's just not convenient for me to wear them to work and I am always afraid that they will fall off

How do you maintain a good natural look? By natural I mean without the gels and extra stuff? I've used half wigs before and phonys.
I love doing my co washes and adding my serums to my hair every couple of days. But it's just so hard to look cute.

Can you give me some ideas on how I can maintain a good look while stretching?

I am by no means an expert on this but, I use a phony and alternate with side parts, middle parts, side sweeps, and just all pulled back. I wash frequently so I tie my hair down at night with a silk scarf at night to flatten the roots a little. In the morning I run a moisturizer over the top to lay down stray hairs and provide shine. It is not the most glamorous but it makes me presentable for work. I stretch my relaxers for 12 weeks also.

I make sure I look good by wearing my hair in styles that look good, before and during my stretch. I love side buns, low braided buns, French Twists and braidouts. These styles work with my hair and newgrowth, which I believe is the key.

For me, rollersets tend to work best. It hides all the new growth and it becomes versatile. I can put an updo in rollersets, wear it down, ponytail, etc. I re-do the rollerset every couple of days by spritzing it with water for moisture and re-rolling it (my hair takes forever to dry so i only mist it with water so that it can actually dry overnight). I wash it once a week and do the roller set with a bonnet dryer to keep it clean. I have a few examples in my album if you need ideas.

Thanks ladies.
I did my clarifying wash and condition, then Porosity, followed by ORS REplenishing Pak DC, then I put my MTG mix in my scalp, massage.
Applied the Olive Oil lotion to protect my hair from heat while blowdrying and now it's up in one with a phony. I used LEt's Jam though :(
