Okay ladies, if you don't have a LHCF Certified stylist I am going to pack her up and mail her to you only of course if you promise to send her back. I have to say that I had the best RELAXER EVER!!! :D yesterday. Now most people would have thought I was crazy for driving to another city, about and hour and a half away but I will do just about anything for my hair so I just considered it a mini road trip. Well went I got there I was greeted by a beautiful, tall lady with long her herself(she won't amit to this but her hair is long and it is not that thin:p ) She was so nice and bubbly and we quickly realized that we are very much alike. I was at the 9 week mark and it was pretty rough in there but she was very gentle and complimented me on my hair. It really felt good to be constructive feedback on what I was doing. I had already oiled my scalp with coconut oil about 2 days before so I was already "based" but she based again and was very through. When she applied to relaxer, I felt NOTHING, I MEAN NOTHING. No buring, no tingleing, at all. At the most it just felt a little cool. She used a product to protect my hair over overlapping a chemical residue as well. Another thing that made this relaxer so great is that there was no overlapping. There is a mirror right by her station so I could see my hair the whole time and there was no OVERLAPPING. I don't think this has ever even happened. She timed herself and stuck to the time alotted. As she was doing this we talked about the board, hair tips, life and what not but she still asked me questions like "Are you okay", "how straight to do normally relax your hair", which really made me feel good because she was not just slapping relaxer in my hair, she really wanted to learn what I like so she can make suggestions and she was making sure that I was having a comfortable experience. I dont know how many times people have left me burning:mad: and not even asked me if I was okay, and just told me that it needs to "work". We agreed that bone straight was not the way to go and that maybe I should try going about 80% straight to see if that helped my hair. She rinsed me very quickly and made sure it was all out. She then applied some conditioner and sat me under the dryer for 15mins and the gave me a beautiful rollerset. All the while we talked and laughed the whole time and time flew by. I know we have all had our share of horror stories with stylist and whatnot but the point that I am trying to make is that if you are lucky enough to find one that is on the same journey with you and has been in your position and gone threw their share of setbacks, then you should support them 100%. This is the first time that I actually felt that my hair was in better hands than maybe even my own. So I will be taking the drive to her every 8-9 weeks or more if I have time and she will be the only one allowed to come near my head with a relaxer for as long as I have a NC residence.

Glad that you had a great relax experience..and from a board member, no less.

NC is how far from MD?

I know that's right! We could carpool. I know Luvlonghair was doing the dang thing!

Balisi (here in Atlanta) and Luvlonghair (in NC) are the only LHCF stylists that I know of...are there others? We really need to promote these ladies, since we know they believe in healthy hair care!

I'm so glad to hear this. My mom lives in Charlotte and just talked to LuvLongHair earlier in the week per my recommendation. I can't wait to tell my mom about your experience!

Wow......I didn't expect this.:)

I'm glad you like the results of your hair gymfreak, thank you for visiting and trusting me with your hair.

We did have a good time last night, she wasn't the only one that learned something last night. I'm putting all your scholarship pointers to work.

I wish I can do a lot more of the ladies hair on the forum. It is so much easier to have you ladies as clients than others (not all, but some). She made my job very easy.

I look forward to seeing, treating and chatting with you again!

Thanks again ladies.:)

You two are so silly. It'll be a 3 1/2 hour drive:eek:

Girl that is OK! I've never been out to Charlotte anyway and I was just thinking that I need an LHCF specialist to REALLY examine my hair and tell me what I need!

I will definitely be coming after the holidays though :)

Just curious...have you heard of the George Michael System of hair care? What is that? My salon has it now, but it basically sounds like a deep conditioning treatment for $100....and they're not an expensive salon.

That is so wonderful and I'm glad you had a great experience. Does anyone know if there's a thread about stylist in various states that are LHCF Certified? If not, is there anybody in NY that does relaxed heads?

Luvlonghair,
I'm getting ready to PM you. While I live in Ohio, my family is in Charlotte and I go home often and am in need of someone to give me relaxers.

I think Moderator Don'tSpeakDefeat is currently in beauty school here in Atlanta. I believe she's at the Aveda Institute. Not sure when she will finish or finished. PM her :)

Glad you had a wonderful day at the salon. I read your enthusiasm coming off the screen.

I was just thinking the same thing! Plus, I'm on my way to Charlotte for Thanksgiving!!

But seriously, Gymfreak, I'm glad you had a good experience. :) A little jealous, but glad.

Glad you had a good experience!!! Nice of you to come back and share. We hear the horror stories so often.

Maybe LHCF should make a window sticker "LHCF-Certified".

Wow, I really thought you were kidding:lol: But I'll be more than happy to service you:)

In regards to the George Michael system, I've never heard of it, but I'll do some research and see what it's all about. Someone is always trying to come out with something and put a famous name on it so people will buy into it. I'm more into results than the name on the bottle.

I'll hit you back.

Glad you had a good experience. I'm looking for somebody lhcf certified in NY also.
