I did research on some other threads before writing this, but I wasn't really getting the answer I was looking for:

1. How did you use lush henna(what did you add, how long did you keep it in, etc?)

2. What color was your hair at first(did you have perm-hair color already)?

3. What color did you buy?

4. What Color were you TRYING to achieve?

5. What were your results?

6. Would you buy it again?

THANK YOU!!!!

I was thinking about it...it's all natural. But goodness, it is seriously 6-7x as expensive as the powder I get at my local Indian Grocer!

I've used this...a few months ago. December I believe it was.
I got the black Henna from the Lush store. I got the big block for around $20.00 or so.
It was okay. I didnt have any negative experiences but I do think its overpriced. I was expecting a better/richer quality since it was from Lush, but that was not the case. I've used the Reshma brand and it was good also. I won't be repurchasing the Lush Henna.

I used it a couple years ago before the BC. My hair was already colored treated.I had been rinsing with jazzings cherry cola for years. I think because if this I couldnt really see a true color payoff. I have started color treating my natural hair w/ calirol textures and tones.N ext time I go to lush I wil buy again (caca rouge-btw) and give it another try before I right it off.

i want to try this when I BC..$20.00 doesnt seem too much since I dont have to worry about mixing two hennas together to get the color I want. Plus from what I understand it is in 6 blcks, so depending on your hair length thats at least 4-6 applications.

1. How did you use lush henna(what did you add, how long did you keep it in, etc?) I bought a bar of caca noir. I cut it up in pieces and added some hot water (the water had tea bags). I smooshed it till it was the same consistency as my other henna treatments. Kept it in overnight and rinsed out in the morning.

2. What color was your hair at first(did you have perm-hair color already)? I have dark brown hair, but I was basically just trying to color my greys.

3. What color did you buy?
Caca noir

4. What Color were you TRYING to achieve? Black hair

5. What were your results? After leaving it in my hair for about 6 hours, it looked exactly the same. My greys were still grey!

6. Would you buy it again? Hell no! The box of $1.50 henna from up the street worked much better. Can't speak for everyone else, but I thought it was a waste of $20 bucks and 6 hours.

Just wanted to say that I ended up doing an indigo treatment about a week later and my hair did come out jet black. I did a video about it on youtube:

Someone did a video response to it, which in my opinion gives a better detail on how to apply the indigo and henna.

HTH!

I used Lush caca brun about a year ago. It is a big hard block and someone recommended putting it into a couple of polythene bags (eg freezer ziploic bags) and smashing it with a wooden spoon. That definitely helped crush it into smaller bits. I then followed the instructions on the packet to add water etc. I used the entire block for my then neck length hair. As I understand it, henna applications need to be thickly applied. I do the same with my current henna (jamila)
My hair was (is ) black and had greys. I bought the caca brun. I wanted to colour my greys reddish brown (so they look like lowlights) and to obtain the conditioning and strengthening benefits of henna.
I left it on overnight (altogether about 10 hours) In the morning- while rinsing - quite a few twigs and sand (It is not BAQ henna that is for sure), my hair did feel moisturized (they add a ton of other stuff to their henna) and I liked the aroma (cloves if I remember correctly) BUT my greys were still grey, my hair still black (that was to be expected though)
I would NEVER buy Lush henna again - reasons - did not colour my greys - heck thats reason enough! But also it is not BAQ henna and I am not keen to wash out twigs, grass and sand for days.
Now I stick to quality (as opposed to the faux - quality of using the brand name of Lush to market the cheapest, lowest grade henna). I use BAQ henna ONLY - it colours my greys completely, rinses out like a dream, strengthens my hair. Check out mehandi.com. I use Jamila but plan to try yemen brand soon.

It was a while ago, but I think I just added hot water. The block has cocoa butter in it.

2. What color was your hair at first(did you have perm-hair color already)?
My hair had been previously treated with henna/indigo.

3. What color did you buy?
Caca noir

4. What Color were you TRYING to achieve?
Darker hair and cover the greys.

5. What were your results?

  • Darker hair
  • Did not cover the greys
  • Shiny, silky hair
  • More difficult to rinse than mix from powder
6. Would you buy it again?
No - too much bother to break up the block and rinsing it out was laborious.
