But when I was younger, I got my hair greased once a week, and washed like once or every two months and my hair was super long though. Filthy, but really long.
Additionally, I need to give my roots a bump with a little heat as I get closer to touch-up time. My ends seem to like a little heat as well.
It may seem odd, but a little heat at the roots and the ends actually prevents my hair from breaking. The more raw and "napptural" my hair, the more vulnerable it is. I find it's easier to manage if it's straigher.
Wow! This is a very interesting discussion of the benefits of Mineral Oil!! I have been avoiding products with it, thinking that it was bad. But that makes sense........if we're continually cleansing our scalps and hair with the shampoos, then no it's not bad at all and can help keep our hair moisturized and soft! I'm going to re-think my next trip to the Beauty Supply and take another look at some products I've been ignoring!
I used to LOVVVVVVE baby oil on my hair. It makes it just as soft as it makes my skin. I want to start greasing my scalp again. I was my hair enuff so that it won't really hurt my hair.
My hair has been loving the Surge woojee (sp)? cream which has mineral oil -- I didn't notice this till I got home. I was worried for a second then I told myself it'll be okay coz I'm not using it on my scalp. My hair has been loving it since Sunday. I am using it every other night in conjunction with my mango butter.

Could it be that it is not the products that are bad for our hair but the fact that most people do (did) not wash there hair enough.
YES I agree so much! I attend hairdressing school years ago. There were a pair of sisters in there 50's that would come in every 2-3 wks to have a wash and set down. There hair was about shoulder lenght but never seemed to grow any longer. One day I was booked to style one of the sisters. I wash her hair the first time and it was so greasy and dirty because she had not washed for wks and use BLUE MAGIC hair grease. I ended up washing her hair 5 times to try to get it clean. Her hair had so much grease that washing would not even break up the oils. I'm sure if she had washed her hair on a more regular basis it would been so much healthier. It was not the mineral oil but the fact that she did not wash her hair near enough that cause slow growth and major build up. I love mineral oil too, I just make sure to use in moderation and wash wash wash.
Yeah DebyJay I'm really loving the Woojee Cream too!!! OK..........WHY do I have some here at my desk at work???? I'm so obsessed it's ridiculous! It's fun too! I'm just all excited since I found the Surge! But back to the Mineral Oil discussion.........I used to love that Pink Oil, but then dropped it like a hot Potato when I started hearing how awful Mineral oil is.........but again, it probably was, only because I wasn't shampooing enough!
I have to admit that I love CPR to death and that has mineral oil. I've tried avoid using it but my hair wasn't the same. So I broke down and got a jar. I can't wait to use it when I take down my braids. For some reason Pink Oil makes my hair hard. I guess it's because I didn't clarify enough...
