New member- Hello to you all and thanks for all of your hair advise and shared experiences. Well... I'll hold out on thanking ya'll after I get some grow with this MTG- This stuff (which is sitting on my head for the first time today) smells something terrible- :lachen: (joking).

Has anyone order Lotus Powder from the www.everdayhenna.com site? If so, how long did it take to arrive? I'm just getting a little worried. I attempted to contact the distributor via phone and email... but as of yet- No package- No response!

Haven't used or ordered Lotus Powder but that is on my list of things to try out this year.

Have you used it before? If so, what's your opinion of it?

Nope haven't used it yet. If it ever comes in... I'll let you know how it goes. My digital cam is broken... but I'll try to do some before/after pictures. My hair is a hot mess right now. I hope it conditions well.

Can you enlighten me about lotus powders? What are the benefits? TIA!:)

Unfortunately, I can’t... but I wish I could. I’m still checking the mailbox, daily. I feel like the lady in the Mervyns commercial- Open- Open- Open!:spinning: I surfed the forum as well as the net… and from what I gather… my hair should be conditioned (less shedding), shiny (I guess like a natural cellophane) and have less frizz. Some compare it to hennalucent. But… I have no product (yes- I mentioned that again- I want my stuff… I am a back sliding pj :look: - ) so I have nothing to compare it to.

I will update when/if it comes in… but honestly… I don’t know.

Just thought I'd follow up, for those interested.

My Lotus powder, finally came in today:yay:. I am really excited. I got really nervous, because I did a search on the net... and a few people posted, they never recvd their product. So, if my thread discouraged you for ordering... I say go a head... just give them about a month to get it to you (I ordered Jan 20th).

Anywhoo... I just blowdried my hair (over a year w/o relaxer); I'm getting braids tomorrow, so I wont be able to review the product for a while. But, when I take them down... this will be one of the first products I use. I'll let you know how it goes.

BTW- It does smell like old ladies perfume- :lachen:

From what I've read recently on using hennas, as long as you are not using A COMPOUND HENNA over hari that's been colored treated or relaxed your hair will be fine. This is also true of Lotus Powder

I've been using HENNA over my color treated AND relaxed hair for about 2 months now, weekly, my hair only continues to imrprove.

More info on Compound Henna and what it can do to hair can be found at: Henna For Hair and also at Everyday Henna

Compound Henna Dye
This is a term that refers to hair dye made with henna and other plant dyes mixed with metallic salts.
Metallic salts alter and fix a dye stain. Many “henna colors” are created with metallic salts. The most frequently used material is lead acetate, though silver nitrate, copper, nickel, cobalt, bismuth and iron salts have also been used.
Dyes with lead acetate gradually deposit a mixture of lead sulfide and lead oxide on the hair shaft.
Ed. Just what you always wanted. Hair full of lead and sulphur. And you thought you were using a wonderful, safe, henna product! May as well blow dry with concentrated car exhaust.
When you hear that henna has “metal”, “lead”, or “coats the hair” and “leaves it brittle”, that refers to a compound henna dye, full of these toxic wonders.
Hair bleach, permanent hair color, and permanent wave solution are a disastrous combination with compound (metallic salt) henna dyes. These can result in green, purple, or totally fried hair.
Natural henna does NOT have metals, lead, nor does it “coat the hair”. Henna leaves the hair thick, strong and silky! Only pre made boxes of “henna colors” have these toxic metals that damage your hair.

How can you find out if the henna hair dye you've been using is full of toxic metallic salts?
Harvest some of your hair. Mix one ounce (30 ml) of 20-volume peroxide and 20 drops of 28% ammonia. Put your harvested hair in the peroxide-ammonia mix (this is in synthetic hair dye). If there's lead in the henna you've used, your hair will change color immediately.

If there's silver nitrate in the henna you've been using, there will be no change in hair color, because silver is coating the hair. However, silver nitrate leaves a greenish cast to your hair, so you can tell by that.

If there's copper in the henna you've used, your hair will start to boil, the hair will be hot and smell horrible, and the hair will disintegrate.
