sick sick sick. there's nothing elso for me to do. I have searched the site for other ideas I think I have tryed everthing I think. If anyone has anything Ihave not tryed please let me know!

Have u tried olive oil. You need to deep condition and I mean for atleast an hour. Do hot oil treatments on wet hair then see what happens

There's a thread - Updates on daily rinsing - or something like that where the daily rinsers mentioned the same problem. It's always the combout that taxes the hair so much. I'll share the same tip I was given by the ladies on the board last year - Keep the hair going back and downward while you're in the shower. The less you manipulate it the better. Spread the conditioner on from ears down in one or 2 broad (gentle) strokes. Then detangle slowly (while you're still in the shower) w/ a wide-toothed comb working your way from the ends up.

If you're already doing this and still having problems, I would bypass the stress and just limit washing to 2ce a week.

I think you are doing to much. Your hair needs rest. It's like if you have a favorite silk shirt and you wear and wash and dry it everyday, eventually it's going to turn to shreds and fall apart.

Try cutting down your washes to 2 or 3 times a week.

Gently finger comb your hair first to detangle, then just try using a condition wash since you say your hair is dry, massaging your scalp and new growth. Once that is rinsed out, then use a good deep conditioner and leave it on for 30 min.

Once everything is rinsed out, make sure you finger comb your hair again before using a wide tooth (shower comb) to GENTLY detangle.

I'm not sure what products you are using, but make sure they don't have any drying/harmful chemicals in them. Also, check your water to see if it's too hard/too much chlorine/too many sediments.

ITA with L.A. Woman, you are being too aggressive with your hair. Less is always more. Even with the condition washes I do, I give my hair a break every 2 weeks or so and give my hair a shampoo and then a 5 minute condition.

Whatever you do, keep us posted on your progress. I hope this helps you.

Happy Growing

what's a shower comb? i just use one of those regular combs from the store (not really wide tooth not really a small) and comb the conditioner through my hair. i still see a little breakage but not as much.

When you hit a snag, stop combing immediately and loosen it up with your fingers.

What conditioner are you using for your conditioner washes? You might need to try a different one... Don't swirl your hair all over your head and scrub your hair like the people on TV. Keep your hair as straight as possible and kind of finger comb the conditioner through your hair. I massage my scalp a little, but not too much. Detangle your hair while it's still saturated with conditioner. I detangle in the shower, leave in a dime-sized amount of conditioner, put all my other products on my hair and then comb through it again and put it in a bun (it's not long enough for a bun--it looks more like a peanut M&M!

). That's the only time I comb my hair. I don't towel dry, either. The wetter it is, the easier it is to comb.

This is one of the reason I limit washing to 2x's per month. The comb out is deadly. I am a 4a/b and I loose alot of hair that way. I cannot tell you enough, that you will slow your progress if you pull out your hair during the comb-outs.

The solution for this is less washing, not more.

I WAS THINING OF GOING BACK TO WASHING 2X A WEEK THAT WAS WORKING. I WANTED TO SEE WHAT THE RAVE WAS WITH THE DAILY WASHES. I GUESS IT WAS NOT FOR ME. AFTER MY RELAXER ON THE 1ST I WILL TRY THEM AGAIN. I AM ON MY 5TH WEEK AND MY HAIR IS KIND OF KINKY. IT ACTS UP WHEN ITS TIME FOR A RELAXER. IT MY BE TOO MUCH STRESS ON IT RIGHT NOW. I THOUGHT I WAS DOING SOMETHING WRONG. SO I WILL GIVE IT A REST UNTIL AFTER THE 1ST. THANKS FOR ADVICE.

My hair starts acting up usually about 6weeks. I usually stop co washes, and grab my Ultra Conditioning Cream of Nature, and wash twice a week. Nothing, and I mean nothing detangles my hair better after 6 weeks.

Are you washing daily with shampoo or with conditioner? I was referring to conditioner washes in my post. IMO, no shampoo is gentle enough for daily use on type 4 hair.

mtasha,

i am having the same problem as well. except i am just washing 1x weekly. my combout after washing my hair is very scary and disappointment. i am starting to wonder if my hair is thinning out. i do realize that i am 30 now and i wonder if this has something to do with it.

I was wondering the same thing. when I look at my hair that has fell out up close they look thinner on the ends. I was thinking I may need to dust my ends.

Age and a 2 year old may have something to do with it.

I read somewhere on the forum that hydro. collegan was for thinning hair. After I od a little more research I may add it to my long list of vitamins I take already.
