I tried searching the forum and everything but no such luck. Does anyone have this saved?

I was going to ask you what half and half refered to.

I use the "half and half method" depending on how manageable my newgrowth is when it's time to relax. If I have 3 or more inches this methods helps to get my hair relaxed exactly how I want it.

What I do is, part my hair from ear to ear approx. 1/2 way through my scalp. I apply a little vaseline or heavy conditioner( e.g Lekair cholestorol) to the first inch of the area not being relaxed. I usually do the front first. I place a plastic shower cap over the area to prevent relaxer from getting on it and wrap a bandana on the area to secure.

I relax my hair as usual but I don't have to rush because I only have 1/2 of my head to cover. I usually leave the relaxer on for about 12 mins. I use Revlon Mild Lye.

After the relaxer is applied and smoothed and left on until my desired straightness, I wash with the neutralizing shampoo until all traces of the relaxer are gone. I don't condition just yet. I wash the little area that I apply the protectant to. I let it airdry until almost completely dry and then do the same thing with the other section.

After both sections are complete I apply conditions usually a reconstructor of some sort.

I usually relax my hair to about 85-90% so there is some curl pattern left.

your method sounds absolutely perfect for me. but i thought you werent suppose to relax hair that was washed the same day and should wait 2 days before relaxing.have you had any problems??

Bree, that's what they tell you. I don't wash my entire head only the part that gets relaxed and the part that I protected if it gets a little relaxer on it I wash that area. I let it almost completely dry and then move on to the next section. You can use a cool blow dryer to speed up the process. Just as long as your scalp is not scratched or irritated you should be fine. I haven't had any problems but I also don't have a sensitive scalp.
