Okay, so I recently jumped on the Maxiglide bandwagon and bought one. It came in, but I'm not ready to put heat on my hair again so soon. Sooooooo, I decided to let my darling DD be my little guinnea pig. She was in dire need of a wash anyway. :ohwell: Then I figured, while I'm at it, why don't I put a henna treatment in her hair...maybe it will help with her crispy, dry looking ends.

A little history about DD's hair. She has beautiful coily waves...the only problem is that she has this dirty brownish, blondish, looking hair which magnifies the fact that her ends are porous and tend to look extremely dry and frizzy (even when they're moisturized).

Much to her chagrin, I mixed my nupur henna, along with a bit of amla powder, hair tea, and ACV. Once mixed, I let that sit overnight. Then I put it in her hair and wrapped her head in saran wrap. I let that sit for 6 hours. Then we washed it out, I conditioned it and put it in plaits and tied her hair up for bed.

The next morning I broke out the Maxiglide and got to work....and VOILA!!!:

Just got started:

It's definitely worth the investment! DD loved the fact that the outer part of the irons stayed relatively cool. She usually jumps a mile high when I get close to her scalp.

I'm so pleased with how the color turned out. It just enhanced her natural color and really did a number on her ends! I'm soooo glad I didn't cut her ends prior to doing the henna treatment.:yep:

Hmmm....mind mixing me a batch of the powders lol!!! Im too afraid to do it on my own!!!

It's funny, because I didn't measure anything. I just eyeballed it.

I had been using that henna for a while, so I was pretty comfortable with it. It's all natural, and very beneficial for the locks. Give it a try. It stinks to high heaven, but yields beautiful results.:yep:

Ahh! She's a cutie! She has very healthy hair! Good for you Mommy!

I'm so glad I discovered these boards! Otherwise, I would have been cutting and trimming her hair when there was really no need. These boards are full of knowledge!

She's so cute. How old is she? My DD is 20 and I just started convincing her of letting me do an Amla treatment a few months ago. My little one will only let me do a deep conditioning, anything else she runs for the hills LOL

Maria, she's 12 years old, and believe me when I say she wanted to run for the hills once she got a whiff of the henna. I had to literally chase her down and get her to sit still for it.:lachen:

She was a good little trooper though. I have to admit that she yelped when she saw a red strand of hair.:lachen: She loves it though.

How old is your little one?...and you DON'T look like you have a 20 year old!

Thank you! My little one is 11 and she says "oh no, I'm not going to be your guinea pig!" LOL My oldest DD used to laugh at the stuff I'd put in my hair, but now she comes over to do her hair every weekend. She actually requests the ayurvedic powders, reads labels and won't go near mineral oil. So I guess eventually they do learn.

It's so pretty! I wish I could change my grays without having to use indigo. I'm scared of the mess it will make. I do want to try henna so bad.:look:

DD is a combination of both of your girls. The very first time I used henna she was like, ewww mommy you're putting poop in your hair. When I told her I was going to henna and test my maxiglide on her she accused me of making her my scapegoat. Soooooo dramatic that one...:look:

you're right though, they do learn. I don't think she'll protest too much the next time around.

Her hair looks great! You did an awesome job!! I wish there were hair boards and Maxiglides when I was that age. I hated getting my hair done especially a home press and curl.

Thanks! Ditto on the maxiglide. I wish my mom knew about henna as well. My hair would have been even healthier than it was. I didn't get to wear it straight much. Only on special occasions.
