Observation 1: I am not going to able to wait 12 weeks until my touch-up. My hair is starting to break a bit from the difference in textures at the demarcation line. My hair has grown at least an inch in the past 9 weeks (this Thursday will make 10 weeks). This weekend I rollerset my hair, then pincurled the curls at night & yesterday morning I decided to flat iron my hair with the ceramic flatiron I bought myself on Friday & when I was combing out the curls to flatiron I experienced breakage, not a lot, but too much considering for at least the first 7 weeks I was having NO breakage! So, I think I'm going to have to go on a preemptive strike plan of relaxing every 8 weeks. I will be going to the hairdressers either Thurs. or Saturday of this week for a touch-up.

Observation 2: Layers SUCK! Layers are only cute in certain styles, I'm trying to wear a bob today and the layers are making my hair look (in the words of my SO) helmetish and newscasterish! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif My hair at the crown is what's annoying me the most though, come on and grow out layers!

Every 8 weeks is fine, if that's what your hair wants. IIRC, LondonDiva does this too and her hair is long and healthy (I've not seen it but from her posts).

Sometimes the baggie trick w/phonytail isn't enough. Wigs are great too! Happy Hair Growing, chica!

I read this and I was like..I'm so feeling your pain right now...I too am entering my 10th week this Thursday...I think I have an inch, perhaps a lil more of new growth.

I'm finding it less and less possible to NOT wash my hair once a week...it's now going to be at 4-5 days at this point. I've never made it this long stretching a relaxer without a weave...but I'm somehow making it (w/help from coconut/lime mix, conditioners and World of Curls/Woojee Cream). I have had some breakage (I don't think my hair wanted the flat iron to touch it)..but nothing YET that
I would break down and bawl about, but it has been more than usual...so I understand your plight Ms_Kenesha.

I'm not happy...but I'm gonna try and push on two more plus weeks.

I feel you T! Are you going to cut your hair to even it up? That's what I'm debating right now, whether I should just keep letting them grow out on their own, or trim to even it up every time I get a touch-up. Since I'm vain on the long hair tip, I think I'll just keep letting them grow out on their own. /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif

Hey Kenesha /images/graemlins/wave.gif I go through a shedding phase around 8 weeks post relaxer but it stops after a week. Are you sure it's breakage?
