Funny you should ask this.
I wouldn't say envy but it does make me want to cut mine.
I had a short hair cut at one point in time and it was fierce if I might say so myself.
(It was Halle Berry short). I got sooooo much attention from guys. I mean even professional athletes (who IMO tend to flock to mixed looking long haired girls) were flocking to me. It was weird. I always thought that men preferred long hair until I cut mine short. I realized that's BS because most men would take Halle Berry over a lot of long haired women any day. Men just like what looks good. And the reality of it is that many women can't get away with a short cut because the attention is now focused directly on the face. It's not hidden by the hair. I remember Tyra talking about that on ANTM when one of the contestants from a past season was crying about her hair cut.
I decided to grow my hair back once I went back to school because it was too expensive to maintain when it was shorter. Running back and forth to the salon to keep it fresh and keeping my attire up to go with the essence of having short hair was a lot. I do sometimes wonder how it would be to go back to short hair. It gave me this extra umph...recently, I had a guy ask me, "why are you growing your hair out?" Now you're just gonna look like "every other girl." "I liked it better when it was short."
P.S. Come to think of it,
when I saw Rihanna's haircut, I was like daaaaaaang, that's just what she needed. I love it! To me she definitely stands apart from the crowd of the other long haired R&B divas.
At any rate, I'm embracing my length at the moment
but that's not to say that I won't cut it again one day.
