Love yourself first!
I am contemplating on getting my hair locked. How long can my hair be to do this. I dont really want to do the BC.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

The shortest locks I've done on a client started at 3 inches, you really don't have to do the bc now a days because the art of locking has improved greatly, granted if you loc up your hair with straight ends it will take longer for your hair to completely grow and loc properly. You can checkout this site about locking, it's a process called sisterlocs and it is done on relaxed hair (yes relaxed hair!) www.sisterlocks.com . You can gradually trim away relaxed ends, my product of choice is ORS lock and twist gel but clear white 100% beeswax works great too. You can start your locs in a variety of ways, you can start off with palm rolls, comb twists or braided hair. I personally think that you get the best results with comb twists, they are neater and help form uniform locks. I hope that this helps you out:)

BTW did I mention that with sisterlocks you can replicate virtually all relaxed styles like spiral curls, flips, shags any sort of curls...there are so many options!

When my husband decided to loc his hair he didn't want to start from scratch either so he started with comb twists. Basically the lady who started his locs used gel and something (don't remember) to do small comb twists, then from there did palm-rolling. Now I plam roll them every few weeks after he shampoos to maintain them. My male cousin also used the same technique. And my mother.

THANK YOU!!!!

Your welcome! I will be uploading pics in my fotki album in a couple of months of my clients hairstyles. I will upload one of a girl with beautiful shoulder length dreds, I put a great brown-red permanent color on it and I also style it so that it curls, I just want people to know that natural hair (& dreds) can have alot of versatility!:)
