Someone just told me about a hair product called LIV, has anyone heard about it? I'm not sure what it is exactly but it's in a red and white bottle and can be found in beauty supply stores.

I used to use it years old. It does make the hair soft and the only problem I had with it was that it is very thick and made my hair thicker than what is is. I think it is made by "Summitt" or something like that.

I liked it! It makes your hair soft its a heavy cream moisutizer, my jar lasted me a year so a little goes a long way with this cream.

A friend of mine used this, but I was wary since the jar didn't list the ingredients on it. Does your jar list the ingredients?

I've used this for a couple of years on my sons braids and it keeps his hair soft and healthy.

Ingredients: Water, Petrolatum, Mineral oil, Beeswax, cetyl esters, Peg-75 Lanolin, Polisorbate-60, Sodium Borate, Sorbitol, Methylparaben, propylparen, fragrance

I'm not sure how this is going to do on my hair, so I will only put a little bit on at night and tie my hair up.

My cousin in FL loves this stuff. She's been using it for decades. It's too heavy for my hair. She has very thick, strong, coarse type 3 hair. She says Liv is the only product that keeps it from turning into a giant afro. She greases her scalp and hair with it every night. She was ecstatic to discover that they now make a lotion version called Liv on Q. Her daughters have relaxed hair and they like to use it when they blow dry their hair.

Sassygirl,

I knew you would be the perfect person to answer this thread.

Did I tell you that she left a 16 oz tub the last time she was here and wanted me to mail it back to her?

If it were something that was hard to find I would have done it, but Liv? Child please...

FYI--
A friend of mine sent this to me. I don't where she found it. The language (natty?) makes it seem like it may have come from a multi-racial children's haircare forum...

My 7-year old daughter has beautiful, long mixed-race hair. For a very long time, I've been at my wits' end though because the roots are like mine (thick, hard and natty) whilst the rest is like her daddy's (wavy caucasian curls). The guy who owns my local black hair products shop recently recommended a product called Liv (The Problem Solver), a creme hairdressing and conditioner manufactured by Summit Laboratories in Chicago.

It's rather messy process but I really don't mind as it's beginning to solve the mad screaming sessions that ensue in our house after my daughter's hair's been washed! I now part the hair into four and lather the hair and roots with Liv, run a wide-toothed comb through the hair whilst blowdrying it, and then put her hair into four large plaits, bangs or loose bunches.

I'm finding that the next time I unloose her hair, it's now longer and straighter and easier to manage and she whimpers rather than yells.!

Hope this advice may be of help to another frustrated mum...who's grown up hearing that West Indian adage: "Hair is a woman's beauty"...

I bought this product back in July to use as a treatment on my ends while relaxing, and it worked pretty good. It's been in the closet ever since, and after reading this thread, I decided to break it out and give it a try on my scalp and length, especially since I'm looking to get away from the water/glycerin thing. I love the way this stuff smells, it made my hair softer and appear thicker, and it looks like the product for me for 2004!
