Hello ladies : Storyyy time !!!!!

okay so Ihave an problem, Th longer my hair gets the more i wanna play in it and measure it , BAD IDEA!!! Due to my constant measuring and looking at my hair all the time it seems as though my hair is not growing at all:sad: even though I know it is because my progress is truly amazing and an blessing . Now I know a watched pot never boils but its just there waiting for me , I cant help myself :perplexed Soo am I the only one who feels this way ? and if there were others who have had this problem how have u stopped yourself from the constant measuring ?

I used to play in my hair all the time! It's hard not to, for anybody, relaxed, natural, ect. Especially, if at one time you had setbacks, breakage, ect.
I had horrible ends at one time. Like all over the place breakage. When I gained health I could not keep my hands out my hair. Every day I was stretching to check its length, looking at shed hairs, measuring. I had to stop myself.
I said I would enjoy my hair while I was styling it only, after that, leave it be no extra touching. Then I decided only to do offical length checks every 6 months. I keep a journal and write things on my calendar to remind myself of my goals I've set. So, far I have been doing very well.

I wear my hair in a bun everyday and its still so hard not to want to do a length check and i planned on wearing braid outs when summer is over but i know its gonna feel like my hair is not growing at all if i look at it that much lol

I think just about everyone used to feel this way at the beginning of their journey.

Once you really realize that your hair will not grow from one length to the next overnight you'll stop. Hair grows at a snails pace. Sure it's growing all the time, but truly noticeable growth takes time (months & years).

^ I totally agree. In the beginning of my journey, I would do a length check every end of the week to see if my hair grew a substantial amount. Nowadays, I just feel my new growth. In a way, you can train your eyes/hands to see/feel a mm (or less) at a time. Dunno, that's how I do it now. And plus, I don't really go crazy with length checks anymore, except when I get a relaxer after a 3- to 6-month stretch. Even then, I'm like "meh". Haironexia, in play for sure. However, if I were natural, I would want to pull my hair all the time! So much shrinkage/bounciness, lol.

Yeah lol im natural so its lik I cant even tell when my hair is growing by jus lookin I have to syrecth but I go overboard

Back in March 2010 I had a stylist turn a "trim" into a haircut, and I lost 6-7 inches. I not only had to step back from constantly measuring my hair, I had to step back from the hair forum for a bit. I just needed to get into my regular hair routine (doing the things I know work for me) and relax.

I straightened my hair a few days ago, but before that the last time I had straightened my hair was November 2010. So it was very gratifying to straighten my hair recently and realize that I had finally recovered the length I lost and reclaimed waist length.
