Length needed for braid extensions

I'm thinking about cutting off all my hair and starting over. I'm so frustrated with my hair it's so damaged and not growing in places. My question is this: how long does the hair have to be to put in braid extentions.

I see that no one's responding... so let me jump in here...Sorry to hear of your hair woes... before u decide to cut it all off & start over again, let me try to help u.

What is your current length? Your goal? What's your current regime? R u relaxed, natural, texturized? (I could be of more help if you're relaxed) How do u normally wear your hair? Do u take vitamins? Exercise?

If u prefer, u can answer my questions via PM, or not at all if ur steadfast on cutting it & getting extensions to re-grow it out.

BTW, I've never never worn nor have any knowledge of braid extensions, so I can't answer that question.

I heard that it should be at least 3 inches.

I recently braided my own hair and in some places it was only about 2 inches.

i think at least 0.5 inches and even then it would depend on the texture of the hair itself! the shorter coarser hair would be easy to braid. if it is a lower hair type (type 3 to type 1) more hair would be need to grip and braid easily.
