I was at Sallys this week hunting for a ceramic flat-iron and I bought Sally's generic version of the Chi...When I opened the package I saw the it had a warning tag that stated that this product contained lead and to wash your hands after use:eek: . I of course returned it immediately....the tag also warned that in California test have been performed to link cancer, birth defects and other serious problem with lead based products. Lead is a dangerous substance, why are they permitted to use this when manufacturing this product, when this product is in such close proximity to your hair, skin and mouth.

Does anyone have any additional information concerning this???

It's in the cord. My understanding is that it helps keep it pliable. That warning is on soooo many different things. The thing is you may purchase something that has lead in it but if it isn't also sold in California than the warning won't be on there.:(

I bought a pair of scissors when I was pregnant with the same warning. Needless to say I returned that reallll quick!

Thanks for the heads up.

I remember I read a similar warning on a review about the electrical cord of the Vidal Sassoon Steam Setter.

Wash your hands after you use these tools ladies...
