I usually do a search and destroy every now and again but I trim when I hit major goals.

I trimmed when I reached full APL (even though the girl said I really didn't need to :yay:)

I'll probably trim again when I reach full BSB.

How often do you trim your ends?
Are you constantly protecting your ends?
How do you manage your split ends?

I usually trim every other month for the look as opposed to hair health because I wear my hair straightened so often.
Recently, I've been trying to trim a little less often in an attempt to more accurately gauge my hair growth and increase retention for a change.
I rarely protect my ends, as I wear my hair out pretty much daily.
Split ends are usually taken care of with the frequent trims, although I occasionally S&D anyway.

Where's the choice for none of the above?

How often do you trim your ends?

Ideally, I trim every 8 weeks, which is approx. every 2 months.

Are you constantly protecting your ends?

Uhmm...say wha? Hardly. I need to do this "constantly". In my case it's seldom. I might put my twists up in a style where the ends are tucked away, but this happens once in a blue moon. :look: I really don't have a good reason for not doing this religiously. I'm just lazy...or maybe not as serious as I should be about growing my hair. I guess when you've never had hair past your shoulders, once you get there, you feel like you've won the lottery so if you're lazy you tend to quit working (hard/seriously).

How do you manage your split ends?

I keep them at bay by keeping the schedule I just mentioned. I slack at that and I don't even get to see the split ends. I see the thin ends left behind by torn off splits.

I moisturize my ends twice a day, sleep with a silk scarf, wash with a sulfate-free moisturizing shampoo, and deep condition after every wash. I use a seamless comb to detangle my hair, otherwise I don't comb. I don't use a blow dryer, curling iron, or flat iron.

This is exactly what I do every week as well as add in a co-wash in the middle of the week.

How often do you trim your ends? Going for NEVER, haven't done it since last year around May.
Are you constantly protecting your ends? Yes, I wear my hair in a bun Mon-Fri and sometimes out on the weekends (if I'm not feeling lazy)
How do you manage your split ends? Haven't really seen any since my initial trim to start my HHJ. I do plan on getting a good pair of sheers to rid myself of any whenever I do see them, as well as to get rid of SSKs.

I'm just now wearing my natural hair out so I suppose I'll just get them trimmed when needed. Every 6-12 months I'm guessing. I do deep condition them twice a week and moisturize and seal them with oil twice a week when I wash my hair.

I haven't trimmed since my BC (July 2010). Maybe it's a good idea to learn how to do some dusting????

How often do you trim your ends? Probably not as often as I should
Are you constantly protecting your ends? I sleep in a satin Bonet...but that's about it
How do you manage your split ends? I haven't really noticed any but now that you've brought it up...

I hardly ever trim my ends... the only time I will do it is if a stylist begs and will do it for free.

I dust but when I noticed the other day that the front and sides of my hair do not retain growth because I constantly dust them every two days or so. After reading this thread I checked all my ends and as there are no split ends I am going to lay off the dusting for a while, instead I will not use heat except on my bags that I will trim to maintain anyway. I did this before and it worked, I gained a lot of length but then had a set back as my highlights dropped out and in lost interest and went natural.

Thanks ladies x

I wouldn't call what I do trimming, it's more like dusting. I do it once a season I would say - quarterly.

I reached SL last year, so I'm doing a lot of protective stying to protect the ends until I get to APL.

I trim whenever my ends get on my nerves..thats usually yearly..I last trimmed last summer...I'm itching for a trim soon...I need to buy some good hair cutting scissors..

Ohhh, um, yeah - nah......

How often do you trim your ends? - the last time I trimmed anything was my BC close to a year ago.........
Are you constantly protecting your ends? No. (Being Honest)
How do you manage your split ends? You know what? I'd only be able to recognize split ends if my hair is straight...I haven't straightend since Jan of this year and I didn't do any trimming at that time.
