Do you think that the constant wetness from the spray concoction can eventually take it's toll on your hair?

I am in love with my spray concotion because it allows me to do no/low manipulation, but I am afraid that somehow my hair will become weak overtime from the constant water (twice a day). My hair doesn't really dry in the inside, since I have mass newgrowth.

Should I be worried? I haven't noticed any problems thus far, but I am still a worry wart like that. What do you ladies think?

I don't have the answer but I am interested in hearing some thoughts on the subject. The weird thing with my bunning and moisturizing is that I experience more shedding and breakage than when I flat iron my hair and wear it straight. I think my moisturizers are making my hair hard to manipulate after a day or two so if I have to finger comb or any kind of manipulation to adjust the bun then I end up with strands of hair in my hands. I don't get it but when I'm bunning I'm going to just leave my hair alone.

I don't know if my experience will help much since I am natural and have a different hair type, but I just want to say that I co-wash daily and I keep my hair up in a bun most of the time. I also spray my bun or pony tail during the day. I don't think my hair has been completely dry in months. Literally. And though my hair has its ups and downs, it is growing and in better shape than it's ever been. But I should also say that I have very dry hair that needs a lot of water based moisture to thrive.

I think the answer to your question will vary from person to person.

Same here. I had to put my wet concoction away and come up with something else. I started putting my moisurizer on when my hair is still wet after I wash it. I know use Palmers Olive Oil Spray and I add castor and amla oil(unscented) to it on my hair daily so far so good. My hair cannot handle being wet all the time.

My hair doesn't do well when I do this too often. I now like to slather water-based moisturizer on dry hair then baggie. Every now and then I will baggie wet moisturized hair but I get better results with water-based moisturizer on dry hair. I have fine 4B 85% relaxed hair.

When I was baggying hair while wet, My hair got thinner and broke off easily, I believe it was over moisturized.

IMO i feel that spraying your hair too much can cause more damage. remember that your hair is the most fragile when wet-so sometimes the slightest touch can cause breakage.

I noticed this, especially with my nape. It get's the most wet. It is the coarsest part of my head yet the weakest. Baffles me. Everytime I got to put in a ponytail I feel a strand snap RIGHT on the nape (well, not everytime, but too much for me).

I think I will just lay off of the spray moisturizer and try a cream for a while. I will update you ladies.

When I tried the baggie... my hair was like mush and broke easily. It really doesn't like that method of moisturization. It doesn't like to be co-washed either... I'm thinking about trying it when I have ample new growth to keep it soft.

What works for me (grew out my nape area) was spraying with curl activator (the one in the blue and white bottle. The name escapes me because I've been up since 5AM....just a few sprays not too much) at the nape and on my ends before I bun up. I find that doing this twice a day followed by a light oil, really makes a difference.

I dont wet my hair daily it takes ages to dry anyway. but the couple of times ive baggied and left my hair damp overnight or for a couple of days my hair has hated it and shed full length hairs. I dont think it works for me. my mom always says never to put up wet hair or oil wet hair and she has nice hair so i cant complain. ive always believed that wet hair is fragile hair and to keep it in that state is not good...for MY hair. i know it works great for some and im not knocking it.
i notice that if my hair hasnt dried its sooo frizzy and impossible to comb even after i wash it again and condition.
id like to see more responses to this too
im 3b/c btw

I never put my hair up wet. I comb it straight back, tie with wrap strips and let it airdry overnight. When I wake up in the morning it is 98% dry and has bounce and feels great! I pull it back and bun it at that point. I think I was using too much moisturizer. I don't know. When I get home and take it down it still feels pretty good but when I moisturize that night and sleep with it loose but with a scarf on, it feels like I have a hard time putting it back in a bun in the morning. It doesn't move well and feels kind of stiff and tangly. I am 6 weeks post relaxer but still I don't think it should act this way. I think I'll take some advice here and stick to moisturizing mostly after shampoos and lightly moisturize daily while bunning. I'll take my hair down to apply moisture and put it right back in the bun rather than leaving it down overnight. This should cause less manipulation.
