Ladies who use bss hair for weaves (LONG)

I have been in a weave for little over 2 weeks now and i think it is definatley time for a wash

The hair is sensationnel tri-lights not sure if any one has heard of this

but my fear is that after washing the hair it will no longer behave

i have had this problem in the past that the hair 'loses its coating'(what my stylist says) and that the constantly tangles and i have to constantly brush the hair all the time.

My stylist also says i will have problems with the hair after washing because it is coloured

I have had a look in the other threads for ladies regimens for washing their hair but i have mostly found threads on non-bss hairs

Does any one have anyone have any advice to help with the tangling problem?? e.g should i wash, DC then air dry with serum in the hair (ic fantasia pehaps?) then straighten
sorry this is so long i just don't know and plan to wash today as i have all day
and finally any advice on making sure my own hair doesn't matt and tangle from being able to dry properly
do i blow dry my roots or air dry them

I have to ask, and don't take offense to this, but how much does the hair you purchase cost? Are you using human hair?

If it's less than $50 a bag, then you're getting what you pay for.

I use BSS hair and it has worked very very well for me and my friends. I feel that you have to try the better quality brands if you're purchasing at a BSS. I use Sensationnel Goddess Remi and I've had no problems with tangling. I like the fact that it loses the sheen/coating after a couple washes because the hair starts looking so much more realistic. I don't see myself purchasing online, partly because I am a control freak and need to test it out next to my hair before buying it to see if it matches. I also don't want to worry about shipping issues and the off chance the hair isn't processed and is virgin with lice or hair bugs in them because it's straight off somebody's head which freaks me out but that's a whole other thread...

As far as my sew-ins, I think installation is key. A good install will be easy to wash. Here are tips:

Separate your own left out hair from the weave and then split the weave into two sections. I do top and bottom. Shampoo and condition all parts and make sure to detangle the weave in the shower if needed. Blow dry the weave with a dryer with a comb attachment.

Also at night before you go to bed and wrap up your hair, lean to the side and use a large paddle brush and brush through the weave a couple times. It keeps it tangle free and soft. Wrap your edges with a satins card and pack all the hair in a bonnet.

I believe tangles are caused by too much exposure, people going to bed without a bonnet. It's really not difficult and you have to treat the hair well too if you want it to last for you even if it's fake hair.

I always wear bss weave. I mix shampoo and water in an applicator bottle and apply that to my roots and massage it in. Rinse and do the same with conditioner. I don't DC because I never really thought about it. The last weave I had, I sprayed conditioner on the actual weave and detangled that way. After I comb through the hair I put it in braids to air dry. Once it dries I straighten it and moisturize my own hair.

I used to just wash and dc mine maybe once every week. Sometimes every two. The trick is to put some type of serum on it when you heat style it. The cones will keep it from going all wacky and the hair will last longer. I wouldn't do that with the Remy hairs. But with the regular BSS hair you're going to need something to tame it. And make sure you cover it up at night! That will eliminate tangles too. And keep the area at the nape detangled.

I wasn't expecting the hair to last particulry long i bought it for a photoshoot which was last week
but i figured hey if i can stretch this hair out and get my moneys worth why not cant blame a girl for trying lol

Yes I would put it on wet and then blow dry. My stylist used to use PM Super Skinny. I've also used the Fantasia ones with no problem.

I blow dry my roots with a blow dryer with that nozzle attachment. I've used Urban Beauty a couple of times. The last hair I used I don't remember the name because my sister bought it so I'll let you know the exact name once I she gets off but I know it was Remi hair. I want to say it was some form of outre but I'm not sure. I wear my hair for like 3 months.

update :

i washed with aussie moist and conditioned with aussies 3 min miracle
then blodried with serum

the hair dried soft and straight and there was no need to straighten
the hair almost feels new but less shiney lol

I think that's why she said that it wouldn't do well after washing. Human Hair that's not too expensive isn't 100% Human Hair. It has some traces of synthetic hair also. Like Nichi said, you get what you pay for. I personally use Velvet Remi or the Velvet Indian which is expensive (Indian-$150 per pack, Velvet Remi- $70-$90 per pack), but I love the quality of it. I get no tangles, and it lasts a long time, plus you can reuse it which i never do. But overall, its great quality hair.

I use a blow dryer with the comb attachment, or sometimes i use a brush and brush it through while holding the blow dryer next to it ( like in the dominican salons). It comes down to what's more comfortable to you. HTH!

OP, that has also been my expeirence. That when I wash colored BSS hair it starts to matt. Maybe you can follow some of the advice of those who use this hair without it matting and have a successful result.

I'm rocking a bss weave that has been in for about two weeks now.

I have washed it at least 4 times already. This is a curly weave(well wet n wavy) though so I expected some tangles. I just go through them with my denman brush and the curls bounce back. The hair was acting up after the first couple washes. I then deep conditioned both my braided up hair and the weave,and the weave hair is smoothed out and frizz free again.
