I don't stop. I tend to stretch for 11-12 weeks and I rollerset the entire stretch. I can't air dry either and wet bunning is a no no for me so my only option is to rollerset. I'm not a fan of flat ironing my new growth so rolling the roller up helps me flatten my new growth without direct heat.

I rollerset right throughout the year. It works for me. As my new growth becomes more dense I just need to be more careful and take more time.

I agree with all the other ladies, I dont have any other options...:lachen: Its stretches my new growth and makes my hair manageable. Its just takes me longer as I am super gentle

I'm a 12 week, no heat stretcher. I've been roller setting (75% air dried hair) using flexi rods. For some reason I get breakage with magnetic and mesh rollers. And controlling tension on the roots is easier for me with flexi rods. I can roller larger pieces of hair as well and that saves time.

After about 14-15 weeks I was getting too much breakage roller-setting so I've been bunning for the last month or so...

I am transitioning and I'm just about 11 months post relaxer. I just rollerset on monday and flat ironed my roots. After 6 months post I had to start doing ponytail rollersets, they are much quicker and easier when you have a lot of new growth. I don't rollerset as often any more though(about 1/2x monthly) as I hate sitting under the dryer.

I can rollerset all the way through... a good ol paddle brush and a great detangler spray...and the leave ins I use...i'm good.

:lick:

Spray bottle with water,Nairobi foam wrap lotion, and a drop of chi

I forgot to mention smoothing my NG and length with my boar bristle brush. I don't think I'm supposed to be using it on damp hair (no ill effects yet) but oooooh it smooths like nothing else...

I rollerset set all the way through. That's the only way to go unless I do a braid out. My longest stretch was 5 months last year. Now I stretch 3 months. I do my version of a Dominican blowout on my roots only after rollersetting sometimes. Other times I just leave my roots alone.

i rollerset for three months then it's box braids
i use flexi rods cause it doesnt not require tension and i get bad migraines from using normal rollers
i dont bother with my roots cos i work out 4-5days a week so it seems pointless to straighten my roots and have it revert the next day

I rollerset the whole way through. My hair hates air drying, so rollersetting is pretty much my only option.
But that said, after a certain point (~14 weeks), I prefer to do ponytail sets or to use a flat iron on the roots, because by then, my 4a/b new growth is laughing at them rollers. :nono:

Nah, I can't. I don't care how gentle I am, how cone heavy my leave-ins are, if I use different rollers/combs, etc it's just not happening. I have to keep my manipulation very low during all stages of styling once I'm so many weeks post and there is just too much manipulation in a traditional rollerset (can't speak on the ponytail rollerset, never tried it before).

And when I'm very deep into a stretch, I don't even think about straight-hair styles. It's pointless for me.

I rollerset right up to my relaxer so that I don't have to worry about ripping hair when I part my new growth for my touch up.
