I did a mini chop, but I'd like to cut more relaxed pieces off. How do I do this without messing up? Can I clip some ends here and there and get away with it? A pro did my mini chop, but he said that you shouldn't take too much from the top. Can u guys help me out with what you did and what worked for you? PLEASE?:D

Maybe you could go back to your stylist and ask for a little more of the relaxed ends to be chopped. Thanksgiving and Christmas are around the corner so I wouldn't recommend any self chopping personally because no one wants a messed up hair do captured in family photos for years to come. However, if your accomplished with scissors, go for it!:)

I did my own bc. It wasn't too bad I just got a pair of my brothers barber scissors, a small comb, and went into the bathroom and began to cut the relaxed ends. I found this pretty simple as I had let me hair grow out for about 4 months before I actually cut the relaxed ends. My mother actually complimented me on the style when I was done, she thought a professional had done it, said it had a nice shape. This is something you can do if you are comfortable with scissors and just take your time. If you decide to go this route just be sure to be cautious that you don't cut large amounts of hair at one time. You can always go back and fix things up a little and trim off the last few relaxed ends. I hope this help

I did my own big chop even though i didn't know what i was doing! i washed and conditioned my hair and sectioned it. then i just stretched chunks of hair and cut off any hair that was straight and not coily. this did not get all of the relaxed hairs so over the next 3 days or so i continued snipping until they were all gone. easy as pie...and free!

i just started cutting. lol
i cut right above the line of demarcation. if i couldnt tell where that was, i wet my hair, and it made the textures stand out a little more.

I agree...the texture on the top is often a lot looser than in other places on your head so it appears to be longer...which means that you may often have the tendency to cut more there...DO NOT DO THIS...the hair on the top will end up being shorter than in other places. The fact that the top texture is looser means that the shape of your hair will look better later.

If you have a lot of the relaxer left, then I would put conditioner in (to help see the difference b/t the straight and relaxed hair) and go in a place with good lighting and chop. But if you only have a tiny bit of the relaxed hair left in only a few places, than I would just let it grow out. HTH.
