I have a couple questions,

I tried to do a braid out and since my hair is longer (about MBL) I can't get down the brain without tangling. Like as soon as I start braiding, my hair turns into 1 tangled mess, i cannot keep the 3 parts separate very well. How do you do it? I know you can take a comb and gently comb as you go but my hair does it straight away.

question #2

I have an event where I have to wear a bun but later that day, i want to wear my hair down. How can I do it without having dents or having it look a hot mess? (i hope this makes sense)

thanks in advance

For the braid out, I would suggest a good leave-in conditioner to give you some slip to avoid the tangles. Or you can try a cheap conditioner such as V05 or Suave. And for the bun...if you put up hair that's already been dried, when you let it down, you should have nicese waves, not really dents... if you put it up wet, you probably won't be able to let it down and it be presentable... at least I can never let down and actually "wear" my wet bun hair down. HTH

when you put it in a bun do you just twist and pin or do you use holders?

that makes perfect sense about the slip, maybe i am doing it when my hair is too dry. i usually leave my towel on for a while to soak up water and i am light handed on my products

thanks

You may want to try a little more product and just a wee bit more moisture for a smooth non frizzy braid-out. I use a little grease or vaseline (emphasis on little) in addition to my conditioner.
When I put my hair up I use a tool... either those sticks or this thing that's shaped like a U (not sure what it's called)... you just have to make sure you put the hair up smoothly tucking the ends in smoothly as well as not to cause any dents.

on the braid out tip, I agree. Also make sure you're using your fingers to go thru the length of the hair as you're crossing it to keep it from tangling. The bun you could do kind of like one big bantu knot; don't use a ponytail holder (or you could use one loosely) but twist the hair until it starts to wrap on itself and secure w/hair pins. Once you're ready to take it down, you should have a nice wave, not a dent. I hope that made sense...
