I don't see why it would be a problem. Sometimes, I use butter to eliminate the whole step of oil altogether.

Depends on your hair and the climate of your living environment. I need all of the layers of LCO to maximize sealing in the moisture.
I have normal to hi po hair and I live in non humid climate.
What is your porosity? What is your climate like?

First, M&S with your liquid and soufflé. If you can make it at least two days without needing to M&S then you don't need the O. If your hair is dry and needs M&S, before 48 hours you need all three layers.
Hayle, this winter has been a beast you may need four layers LCOP. You have to experiment and find the "sweet spot" for your hair.
Also, you'll probably have to adjust your M&S combination when the season changes.

What I do is: on wet hair, apply aloe juice, then a little bit of grapeseed oil, then my leave in (knot today + aloe juice + grapeseed oil), followed by a thick layer of Shea butter.
It's a bit excessive when I think about it, but the moisture lasts a long time as a result.
I'm not in humid climates.

you wouldn't be doing loc..... loc is when the first 2 steps contain water of some kind and your last step is sealing with oil. l would be a liquid/ leave-in even if its as simple as aloe vera juice or rosewater & glycerin, cream is a mix of oil/water that has been emulsified in some capacity, and then the oil or in your case the shea butter mix to seal everything in. sometimes i just moisturize & seal with either liquid/oil or cream/oil and that is okay depending on your hair's needs.
here's my loc but i do lco:
l: komaza care califa or aloe my hair spray
c: claudie revitalizer quinoa-coffee balancing or balancing ends also komaza shea butter lotion
o: any mix of oils i have around the house
coconut, olive, sapote, kukui, meadowfoam, castor etc.

I have fine hair and my hair can only tolerate LO....so, I don't see why you can't just do LC.

I make my own spritz, butter and oil combos for my fine 4b/c hair. Never found it to be a problem combining steps. One of my Ls is mixed with both tea and oil. But then I still have to use butter to get a decent seal. Some hair types would do fine with just the spritz combo, and depending on time of year I can also get by with just that.
So it depends on the temperment of your strands.

@MileHighDiva, Gurl, I didnt do anything until this past weekend..
I was loving how my hair felt just after DC'in(oil treatment pre-poo, washed prior)) so I put it in twists in shower, and keep it moving for a few days, rinse repeat... It was soft/moisturize and all
I am uncertain of results when tried lock methog tried this past weekend.
I tried it with my Flaxseed gel experiment...If I show a picture it looks well I guess shiny, but I think I skemped a lil too much on product and I think I do need to do separate steps as it is not as moisturized as I would like but then that could be gel, all messed up in game, because I did too much and now uncertain what happeened from dc'in/no product great results to dc'in/with product ok results, Lol
erplexedI am loving this journey though, because hair is not hard to manage just time consuming, and these relaxs ends are making me want to BC STAT, cant just let hair hang, gotta add another step curling ends. Makes me want to flatiron weekly instead of trying twists, etc...
