The previous threads on the fizzle concoctions have died down lately, but my interest hasn't.
For the women who have given this a shot, how has your hair been holding up? Please be honest, because I get scared to try something when it was hype for a few weeks then I hair crickets on the board. PLEASE RESPOND!!!!

HEY THERE,
AS PER YOUR REQUEST HERE I AM WITH A RESPONSE:yep:. I TRIED IT AND I LOVED IT SO MUCH THAT................. I WAS DOING IT EVERY DAY. i stopped doing it because 1 i dont want my hair not to respond to it when i really need that extra boost of moisture, and 2 because i dont know what the long term effects of daily salt ect.... might have. i am gonne try to do this maybe 1nce a month in my deep conditioning.

try it once to see if you like it. i doubt any harm will come from once. the ingredients i put in mine where baking soda lemon juice and he long term relationship. i used it before that, with table salt lemon juice and generic nexxus humectress from sally's. i like the former of the 2 better.

I've used it about once a week or so, since the start, alternating the straight salt with baking soda & citric acid.
My hair is most happy, 'heavy', and soft, but clean. I haven't seen any negatives, yet.

for me it was cool , I liked it alot at first, then I got scared because it was hard to get my hair back to how I'm used to it feeling, but a little (well alot) of oils and a protein treatment got it back :yep:

and whether it had to do with the salt treatment or not , it felt even better than before when I got the oil and protein back in my hair

it was somewhat stripping IMO, it actually didnt feel stripped at all when I did it though, it was strange

I used reg ole salt , half tsp to a full bottle of conditioner, they aint lying when they call it fizzle, every conditioner I used after that foamed and frothed, it was very strange lol

Ditto. I've used kosher salt in my final conditioner for a few weeks and my hair is happy. It mixes best with Trader Joes or White Rain Water Blossom for me but didn't dissolve today in my FreeMe Fresia (V05). I don't use baking soda or lemon juice because i'm clear that my hair doen't like them for conditioning.

I've even tried a salt & hot oil treatment that turned out very well. Salt agrees with my hair.

ETA: I get absolutely nofizzle. The salt seems to thicken the conditioner as it disolves.

:yep: Generally, when I use straight salt, no fizzle, but it gets thicker/richer. I only get fizzle with the baking soda + acid combos....

I just did this yesterday on my natural DD. I used some leftover LUST, coconut oil and a pinch of salt. Her hair was softer and easier to detangle than ever!

Best thing since sliced bread!

Love it!

Thanks for your responses ladies! I thought my thread was dead. I actually ended up trying it with baking soda, vinegar and salt and my hair ended up pretty dry. I think I might have used too much, so I am going to try it again, but citrus and baking soda next time.

:yep:

If you add the baking soda + acid, you don't need the extra salt.

Baking Soda + Acid = Salt, so you might have doubled the amount of salt that you used, if that makes sense? And if you think you used too much too, yeah, not a good thing. :(

DC well, wait for a couple of days, maybe a week, and try again. :yep:

I plan on trying again Friday or Sat. I ended up getting a perm because I had to have my hair done for a news class where we go on the air . My hair turned out fine, its just dry, but I will not be double dosing on the salt again.

Okay, i just wanna update. My hair loves, LOOOOOVEEEESSSS :yay:, this! Seriously, before my hair was always dry and i could never get it soft. Now it's soft, conditioned, shiny, oh did I mention SOFT. haha  I do this 1 time a week. I use Pantene and about 1tsp of salt.

Well, I guess i'll be one of the few (or none) to post that even though it felt great right after, i have been having one heck of a time getting the moisture back into my hair. I did a couple hot oil treatments but I think I need to do a protein because my hair doesn't feel right at all. Very tangly and extra dry & crispy. Too much salt I think because I followed someones recipe and did the baking soda, acv and salt. I think it's still a good idea because I had been using baking soda by itself with good results so I think the salt by itself will probably work well too. AFter I get my moisture situation together I'll try again with just the salt & conditioner.

I had moisture issues after too, your right it feels great at first

first all day/night oil treatments then Redken all soft got my hair back and it felt great!

eta: Redken all soft is a mild protein treatment-so your right after this you need both oils and protein

Oh, no! :( If you think you used too, too much, I'd suggest a clarifying shampoo (maybe your BS mix?), and then follow up with your normal DC process, etc.... :yep:

I quickly read the thread. I'm DCing right now. I'm going to try this in a few hours. I'm just going to use 2 teaspoons of salt and my olive oil/ginseng conditioner and see how it goes. I'm not going to leave it on for too long then i'm flexi rodding my hair.

I've tried it twice. The first time was a few weeks ago and I didn't use enough salt or something. I retried it earlier this week, and wow. My hair got uber soft and has stayed that way even though I've cowashed and washed my hair this week.

Anyone try it with one of the organix line conditioners? I am thinking about doing it on this rainy Saturday...perfect excuse to pamper myself with a fresh set and a pedi!
