kinky twsts

Well, I do my own and I put Shea on the twist hair and moisturize my own before I put them in. That helps a lot b/c the hair can be soooo drying.

Once in,---I like a spritz. I have glycerin/aloe juice/distilled water. I also put coconut oil on my scalp if it gets dry.

I used a spray mix of distilled water, glycerin, a dab of any conditioner I was trying to use up, and essential oils. A commerical braid spray could also be used.

A little off topic but I have a question for you. I'm gonna put kinky twists in my little sisters hair but I'm not sure how many packs of hair I should get. Her head is semi-big and I want it to look full so she can be fly for her first day of middle school. Any thoughts?

Most of the packs i've seen in the store have LONG hair and are pre-separated so if u just used one of the separated pieces they would be mid-back twists. (my friends wears this length). What I do is cut they entire pack in HALF and then separate EACH piece of hair (or else they would be very fat twists) and go from there.

I use 2 packs this way.

So, I buy 2 packs, cut each pack in half and then separate each pre-sorted piece of hair (2 for 1!)

I purchased 5 packs but my cousin cut them in half and I had one and a half packs left over.

Thanks for the help ladies!

I'm getting mine done on Monday. My stylist told me to get 3 packs of the Janet Collection Afro Kinky. And i want mine long. APL.

I used my glycerin mix on my relaxed hair and my roots were moisturized but it defined my NG WAY too much. I see why naturals like this stuff. Hope this doesnt happen with the twists.

A little OT, what about pre-care?

Stylist told me to wash hair as normal but NO OILS! Nothing that would make my hair too slippery to catch the braid. Nothing on my scalp either. Just wash, dry and come in her shop.

How should i prepare my hair for first time twists? TIA

I applied a light proten teratment pre-poo (egg, evoo, garlic powder, yogurt, and con) followed by an intense moist. treatment (ORS reple. mask and other stuff). I left the moist. treatment on a long time.
