To lock your hair, do you have to start from a relatively short length. Say if I grow my natural hair to mbl (god-willing) and decide I want to lock my hair, should I start all over again. I realized that part of the reason why locks look the way they do is because you're not losing any of your hair nor is there breakage. So if I didn't start all over, wouldn't the top of my hair look much bulkier than the rest of my hair? Did that make sense? :spinning: Do most people who lock cut off most of their hair?

No you don't need to have your hair to a certain short length in order to start your locs. You can start at any length.

Just so you know, you can experience breakage by having your locs. You are not exempt from damage or possible breakage.

I loc'd for almost 2yrs. After my 2yrs I decided to comb my locs out. Yes, it can be done, but it was a long process for removal.HTH
