Kiehl\'s Intensive Repairateur Deep Conditioning Pa
4 a/b; approx 5 wks post no-lye relaxer
Intensive Repairateur Deep Conditioning Pak is nothing to write home about. It’s good, but did not give me results that I couldn’t get elsewhere and for less money. I’ve given it the standard two tries. First off, this is the thickest conditioner I have ever seen. It has a mauve-ish color but is thicker than grease, but the consistency of a relaxer (smooth, whipped) This worried me, as I have read here that sometimes conditioners can be too thick to absorb. But all the protein in it is hydrolyzed. Speaking of protein, that was another concern, this is more of a “all-in-one” deep conditioner, not specially a protein treatment, which is what I had in mind when I bought it. See ingredients here. http://www.kiehls.com/Default.aspx?p=294
The label says to leave on for several hours. The first time I left it on for four hours, and that was apparently not long enough. It took several tries to rinse it all out. My hair felt soft. It was okay. I couldn’t believe I waited that long for a “just okay” feeling. Then I tried it again two nights ago, because I had subjected my hair to a lot of abuse—curly rollerset updo with yes, don’t hurt me—hold spray. I swear I never use that stuff. It was for my second MJ night. So when I got home I did a clarify, washed with Therappe, and then applied the Kiehl’s. This time, I left it on over night. The results were better, much easier to rinse out, and my hair felt much nicer, softer. Incidentally, though I am not too far post relaxer, this stuff had an unexpected side benefit of relaxing the curl of my edges fairly well even after drying. But I wouldn’t buy it and go through all that again just for my edges. They weren't terrible to begin with. I'd give it a 7/10, and one more shot before I toss it, 'cause I am doing so much better with the other conditioners in my arsenal.
