Kicked the CHI SI to the Curb - Now I See Retention

Deep Thinker
I've been having problems retaining length even though I "thought" I was doing everything the right way. I posted this thread a few months ago of possible reasons why: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=609579

..... the main suspect, my ends being pinned into my scalp and the MN/Sulfur drying them out. So I stopped doing that. I stopped the MN/Sulfur also but not for that reason. Just laziness.

BUT EVEN BETTER THAN THAT, the much bigger thing I discovered was the stupid CHI Silk Infusion I was using weekly after each wash was probably blocking out the moisture from my hair. I stopped using it for the past couple of months and my hair feels better and I see retention suddenly. :drunk: It's funny that the CHI SI made my hair feel sooooo smooth and silky, yet the cones were breaking it off.

I don't have any pics (sorry) because it's not THAT noticeable but when I say I noticed retention, it may only be a half inch a month but it's better than sitting at the same spot each time.

So I feel confident (praying continuously) that I will move to APL real soon if I keep seeing retention. YAAY!!

Right now I can pull sections down and they reach APL but that's not APL to me until my hair lies there.

Good for you for finding and kicking the culprit to the curb. Judging from your pictures, it seems like you will definitely make APL by next month.

I pin my ends to my scalp as well, and I want to find a new way to take care of them, what do you do with your ends now?

kaytorry I still pin them up but I don't use the sulfur on my scalp anymore. If I did still use the sulfur I probably would find a way to baggy the ends or something??? Or heavily coat them in something to keep them from getting dry???
