Keratese Treatment?

My hair dresser keeps recommending a "keratese treatment". So I asked her if this was the same thing as the Brazillian Keratin Tx...but she said no, it isn't. I turned her down saying that my hair is already texturized- I didn't want to add more chemicals. But she keeps insisting that it's the best thing for my hair since I like stretching for such long periods..

My questions:

Anyone's ever heard of a Keratese Treatment or was my guess right- is it basically the same as a BKT?

If it is basically a BKT- where is the "treatment" part of it? High Heat- Formaldyhde (sp)- I'm not sure how it's a treatment- or I may be confusing conditioning with treating?

I'm stretching for another year. My last stretch took patience, but I did it and did so without major breakage, so I'm thinking I shouldn't bother. What would you do?

TIA ladies!

She's probably talking about the brand Kerastase. They have shampoos, condish, masks, etc. Usually the salon also sells the products. You could just buy the products and try them at home on your own time. I think I see the prods at some drugstores and maybe Target too.

There are some salon treatments offered by the brand. They're conditioning treatments, not keratin treatments.

That's weird how she wouldn't explain it to you. She might just be after $$, b/c there's always an extra charge for the treatment. I think Kerastase has a free treatment day at select salons once/year. I keep missing it!

Breezy, you'll be better off buying the mask and doing it yourself, it would work out much cheaper!

ITA....they have treatments structured for hair type...and they have a new one called Chronogiste (sp) that is 145.00...check out www.kerastase-usa.com...I love their line

And yes - she should have explained which one would be applicable for your hair type and how it will applied, benefits, etc...
