keranique - Anyone try it?

Has anyone heard of or tried a hair growth system called Keranique? Opinions?

One of my co-workers keeps mentioning trying this because her hair is very thin, you can see her scalp.
I didn't realize she was talking about this until I just saw the ad.

I saw an ad for this on Facebook. It seems scammy to me

My mother bought it without talking to me first. I believe she said that she found it helpful and that her crown (her thin area) had thickened up some. She wanted to return the products because she didn't think that the results were worth the price and when she called to get the return info, they told her the trial period was for 14 days and not 30 days as my mother thought. When she balked about paying $129, they reduced the price to $79.

I got an add on facebook for this so I looked into it the other day. I believe the active ingredient is minoxidil so It probably works much the same as other minoxidil based products and similar products can be found much cheaper nowadays. Rogaine for Women is 47.99 for a 3 mo supply at drugstore.com.
