Keeping the curl without the crunch?

Hi all--I've mainly been in lurkdom/crazy-with-lifedom, and I just don't have time to read every thread to answer my query. I am transitioning with small trims, and using Curlformers with the occasional assist from a Babyliss now and then. Because my hair is currently about 1 1/2-3 inches natural with varying lengths of straight ends (I think I have trimmed it down to about SL, but I refuse to straighten it to check at this point), I tend to have pretty cute curls wet-setting with a leave-in conditioner and Motions Foaming Wrap lotion, but my pin curls flatten out overnight, and sleeping with my hair loose on a satin pillowcase just leads to a hot mess--curly (if I'm lucky :ohwell:) roots, and straight ends, which means back to the curling iron or some kind of up-do (and I am not good at up-dos :nono:). So, ladies, what say you all? I'm not ready to chop off the full length, so that's not an option, although I am very much enjoying playing in my new growth instead of treating it as the enemy. TIA!

ETA: I am attempting a pineapple tonight, but I think I'm going to have to set the nape area because that's not happening in that section.

I was going to suggest doing a pineapple. The other option is to pincurl your hair at night & take it down in the morning.

I'm bumping for you!

You could use flexirods or do bantu knots overnight and take them down in the morning. :yep:

Thanks for the replies! I am trying out the bantu knots after checking out a few how-to's! I really hope they work, because I really hate sleeping with Curlformers, and I hate rushing in the morning.
