I have been spraying my hair with water and rosemary oil until it is damp. It seems as though my hair like this combonation. I do this everyday. My hair the next day is still a little damp then I spray it again. Does anyone else do this? Is this good for the hair and scalp? Please tell me your experience...

my hair loves being wet also... but it seems u may not be giving it a chance to dry out. I don't think there is any adverse effect from hair being constantly damp. Are u experiencing any breakage by doing this? If not then I'd say what you are doing is fine...

I am interested in seeing what the other ladies think.

actually there may be. I read somewhere that your scalp could develop a fungal infection from constantly being wet. Let me look for the article and get back to you.....

ETA: ok scratch that, I may be wrong. I think, dampened hair promotes a good environment for a pre- existing infection but if you don't have it to begin with, u may be ok.

I have not experienced any breakage and my hair seems to be enjoying it. I just dont want any unforseen problems in the future.:look:

When I use Scurl for my protective style, my bun is always wet.. I also don't experience any breakage from it being wet.

My hair is almost always damp from baggying, and my hair loves it. Everyone's hair is different, and what works for some may not work for others. If it works for you, keep doing it and reap the benefits :)

I do this everynight - I call it my 'hair sauna'....

My current mix is water & either Humectress or Oyin's Honey Hemp - I want to add some tea tree oil to the mix, just to nip any potential problems in the bud. I think rosemary is a natural anti-fungal as well, so I think that would work out fine.

And your hair stays wet all day? DO you 'touch it up' in the afternoon, or what?

I cowash just about every day and put my hair up, so it is almost always wet or damp. I've been doing this nearly two years now and my hair loves it. I have never had any problems with mold or fungus or anything like that. But again, I cowash just about daily.

I braid my hair and put it in a bun. The braided part of my hair stays a little damp. At night I take it down, spray, moisturize, seal, braid and wrap.

What are the signs of having mold or dungus?

I have done this with no ill-effects. When I airdry my hair, it takes 1 1/2 to a couple of days to dry and when it starts to dry out completely, I will re-wet my ends if I am not ready to wash again. I find that it is easier to do my protective styes when my hair is a bit damp because my fully airdried hair is too bushy to style the way I want (this isn't a bad thing, except it makes it harder to get it to lay flat!). Also I experience less breakage with styling my hair while a bit damp when doing protective styles. I have been doing this since I joined here and haven't had any fungal issues at all--it is mostly my hair that stays continually wet, not my scalp.

Everyday ? No. I have family members in the hair business, and one told me NOT to keep my hair wet, that it will weaken it (overmoisterize).

Instead of doing a light cream to seal my ends, lightly.....I did like you and my hair was overmoisterized and weak. I had to use a protein just to strengthen it back up.

Now, I ONLY MOIST THE ENDS...and I do so with a CREAM HAIRDRESS, not a wet water based solution....It works...

Bumping...I've done this before...anyone else?

I've done this for 2 years. I have not had any problems, this helped me transition from relaxed to natural. My hair also grew from about almost shoulder length to bra strap length.
