K-Cutter Users!!! Talk To Me...

I was all up in Chicoro's fotki and read about her use of the K-Cutter. Then I see Pokahontas post about the K-Cutter. I did a search and didn't get anything...

- How long have you had a K-Cutter?
- How great does it work for your hair, wet or dry?
- How many and what types do you have?
- Where can I find one? (I'm in NYC)


Please share the K-Cutter experience... especially if you're a natural and have tight, tight curls.

Well I have one, and I like it, I don't have to force it through my hair, but I would use it on dry hair for me....others might be different....but for some odd reason it doesn't feel like it's damaging my hair....but I like it better than the plastic combs, but I still use the rake comb when my hair is wet.....I like it, I'm from SC, so I got mine from a BSS....So I hope this helps and good luck.....

I've used them in my life, IMO the wooden ones are better, (AKA picks) the metal can be hard on your hair.

I've been using them since I was a teenager. I use them to comb my hair when its straight or to detangle my hair after it's deep conditioned. A few years ago, I noticed that they were disappearing from the beauty supply stores in Los Angeles, so I stocked up on them. The price was still low--just $1.75 each.

My stylist doesn't care about using metal on my hair, so he uses a short wide tooth plastic comb that doesn't break.

I can't find any links for them. I was in Kenya back in '89 and picked up about 1/2 dozen of them.

I have one and love it. I use it on wet and dry hair. No snagging at all. I love the way it feels on my scalp too.

I ordered mines online. Don't remember where. I remember Googleling it.

I can't say I was impressed when using it on my DD's natural hair. I found that the right conditioner made much more of a difference then that particular comb.

Wait, Yes,Yes, I really thought they were pronouncing it wrong, I am from the old school and that is what we called it, Cake Cutter, and my Grandmother used to actually cut cake with them, doing hair with them came later, I actually did a search on it to be sure that was the real name. LOL!

- How great does it work for your hair, wet or dry? Wet, but not sopping wet anymore. I think when I found the shower comb I liked it better on wet hair. However, I do like to use it after I've applied products. Im texturized with thick hair

I have been using mine for only 2 months now. I actually only bought it because Chicoro uses it! I use it once a week to comb through my hair, while it has conditioner in it. I love it! The comb passes through my hair very easily and it gets rid of tangles and mats pretty easy as well. Also, I don't have that many hairs in the comb either! I honestly am DONE with my Denman. I would have soooo much hair in that thing, but I thought it was normal. The K Cutter gets rid of all my shed hair as well but I don't havea lot of hair coming out like i did with my Denman. I really believe that with the Denman, I was pULLING my hair out (breakage) and with the KCutter only the shed hairs are coming out.

I am a 4b/a natural and have been using a K Cutter for a few years now. It's great for detangling and really helps to keep breakage to a minimum. There is a new goodie detangling comb I want to try though and will let you know if that's better (in my case anyways). I find I like this particular comb on damp or wet hair. I've been trying to limit my dry hair combing.

Yup, they were originally for cutting cakes!

I have that same one posted but I always forget to use it. I believe Irresistible uses a cake cutter on her hair.

i don't have one now, but i've used it before. it's just another afro pick, which is the main comb i used for 10 years. i prefer the standard sized pick just because the k-cutter is a bit unwieldy. but i like both because they have smooth teeth and the teeth are widely spaced apart.
