I don't know if this has ever been discussed, but has anyone ever tried or does anyone use baby oil in their hair? I mean almost everyone uses it all over as baby. And if it's good for them it can't be bad for us, right? So why not use it? I think I might try it one day and see what happens!

What do you think?

Hello, I am new to this forum and have been lurking around for a couple of months.
A close friend of mine cut all of her hair off like two years ago, to ear length. Now her hair is about four inches from bra strap and she doesn't moisturize her hair at all. (Type 1 hair) She washes her hair every two days. And while/after she blow dries her hair the only thing she uses is baby oil!!!! And her hair is gorgeous. I just can't bring myself to use that stuff though. It seems to heavy for the hair, but that's why she washes it so often. She swears by it!

I am pretty sure the main ingredient in baby oil is mineral oil, so if you are trying to stay away from that then baby oil is not for you.

We used it on my lil sister's hair when she was a baby. They recommend doing that if they have that baby "dandruff" because it will make it lift without being rough.

When I was relaxed, I would smooth a bit of baby oil throughout my hair & nothing else. I would then either wear it hanging straight or do a braid-out. It made the hair smooth, shiny, and bouncy. It wasn't heavy at all & I got lots of compliments then. After going natural, I did the same thing, but discovered hair boards & read that mineral oil & petrolatum are bad for the hair, so I stopped using it. However, I did start using those products again after experimenting with other methods. My hair loves mineral oil.

A co-worker friend of mine uses baby oil on her hair and her hair is very thick, shiny and gorgeous. I've never tried it though.

My aunt uses baby oil on her hair as well and she has gorgeous hair. But she has always had gorgeous hair so she can use pretty much anything in her hair. So I guess my point is that it hasn't harmed her hair.

My hair likes anything with mineral oil. And some of the oils that they say we should use suck for me. So who knows. It might not be for you, but who knows, maybe it is. It's worth a try.

My hair gets very mad at me though if I don't use petrolatum or mineral oil based products. Go figure.

Re: Johnson&Johnson BABY OIL

I've used the baby oil gel (lavendar or chamomile scent) on my ends when I air dry in a pony tail and it helps seal in the moisture but I never tried it all over.

Re: Johnson&Johnson BABY OIL

I use to use baby oil for sheen on my hair after wrapping it and when I combined it down. I remember it looking very nice, but that oil was just coat my forehead. I was living in Florida at the time, so that wasn't going to work out for too long. It didn't harm my hair though.

Re: Johnson&Johnson BABY OIL

I used to use it on my scalp and it dried it out so bad, it was ridiculous.

Re: Johnson&Johnson BABY OIL

I used the creamy baby oil on my daughter's hair when she was a baby and probably through her 2nd birthday. It was the only thing that worked for her hair. But her hair is now a different texture and I haven't used it for a while. I never used the pure oil but I noticed that the creamy lotion never gave her a shine. That's the only reason I stopped using it.
