Hey, Jen!
Girl, I was reading all about the July Challenge and then I read where you wanted an allowance. I have to say that I know Brownrelaxedhair was right about her advice. We are not beating anyone up or hurling tomatoes.
But, I wondered about something. Do you think it would be helpful for you to set a dollar amount to spend on a monthly basis and not adopt total abstinence? I was thinking about this and I wondered if it might encourage you to see long-term progress.
What would happen if you set a higher dollar amount, say $50.00, and then every month to simply have anything left over to roll over into the next month?
I do not think that you should be intimidated by hair care aisles in Target, Walgreens, Walmart or any other place.
Now, if you go over your alloted amount for the month, not only is the extra which you have used deducted from the next month, but we have to figure out a penalty scheme.
Let me know what you think because I do not want you to feel like you are running AMOK.
Much Love,
Jade
P.S. Girrrrrrl, I know how hard it can be. With my drugstore mania, what was I doing this morning? Well, I had a few errands to run. Had to hit CVS. Now, I have been away from the US and it was like heaven seeing the variety. I *know* you know. Well, I had been reading about Te Tao hair products before I left for Ireland and CVS has ALL of them. The one I wanted to try was the one which smelled just like Jasmine..rich, thick creamy conditioner. I opened the bottle, smelled it again and quickly moved on to the next aisle. Maybe in three months I will try, but I have put myself on restriction. Why? I have enough St. Ives hair products alone to start a store.
P.P.S. Allandra's "To Try List" is a great idea. Just keep adding and adding. That will help you to feel empowered. All of these manufacturers know that women are smelling their products and going a bit wild sometimes. Just keep it in check
P.P.P.S. I know you are a child of God. You know God does not want us stuffing ourselves with hair products. Gluttony is a sin! Just one step at a time, one step.
