I have heard nothing but good things about this ... until today. I read the reviews on Amazon and most of them were good, but there were like 12-15 bad reviews. Most of them claim the oil breaks you out with a rash, bumps, acne, etc. A few people said it caused balding. For those who have used this product, what was your experience? I can get past the smell but I certainly don't want a rash or acne or balding. I want to buy it to help my hair thicken up in my crown area (which is extremely rough, dry, brittle, wiry and thin).

How is this supposed to be used? Full strength? Mixed with olive oil or another oil? I read that it's very thick so does that mean my hair will be greasy if I use that in conjunction with a moisturizer?

Thanks in advance!

It depends. If you have sensitive skin, you may have an allergic reaction. I think that is rare though. The smell really isn't that bad. I've been using it for over a year and the smell never bothered me. I tried the Lavendar JBCO and it smelled worse than regular JBCO. My hair thickened up, grew in thicker. It was noticeable to me after regularly oiling my Scalp with it. If you have sensitive skin, it might be best to mix with with another oil, like EVOO or EVCO. I use it straight and it IS very thick. Any type of Castor Oil is thick. That's just the way it is so a little goes a long way. When I first started using it I was so heavy handed. My Hair was so slick I had to wash it right after applying it. You can also use JBCO in your Conditioner when washing. It leaves your hair nice and soft.

I use JBCO. It made my scalp around my hair line itch a little, but it has stopped. I use it almost every night alone and just like @PinkSunshine77 said, a little does go a long way because it is thick and it can leave your hair feeling oily. I just started using it in June so I don't know all of the benefits of it for my hair, but it has made my hair softer and less susceptible to shedding and breakage imo.

I've been using for a couple years now. My skin is acne prone and I haven't had any side effects from the product.

I use in my conditioners and for scalp massages.

I use it I'm my dc's and I mix it with MTG and use it on my scalp. Haven't had any problems with it. It makes my hair very soft and I really like it. I have been using it since March.

Does GNC carry it or do I have to order it online? Is there a certain brand I should get or will any brand do?

I Love it... It has thickened up my hair over time... That or the Moraccan Oil...

I basically add to my oil mix, to moisturize scalp or to DC...

I used to have to order it here in NYC. Now I can literally walk into any Beauty Supply and they sell them by the jars in bunches. Sams sells it online.

I like it for twisting my hair; I use it on damp hair and when the twists dry they are soft & bouncy and stretched out. I avoid putting it too close to my edges so it doesn't touch my facial skin, no breakouts.

The only time I noticed any acne or bumps around my hairline was when I got a little too heavyhanded with it in the beginning. I was using coconut oil before hand which I had to use generous amounts of.
