I've noticed that.....

My hair starts shedding a lot at about post 7 weeks. It drives me insane, especially since I'm trying to get to 10 to 12 weeks post.

I'm at 9 weeks post now.

Me too!! I'm at least 12 weeks post and my hair has been shedding like crazy the last few times I've washed. Def. time for a touch up.

Shedding (from the root)? Or breaking (at the line of demarcation)? If its the latter I would suggest really getting in there with the moisturizer. Part your hair like you were doing a relaxer and get the stuff down in there. That's what worked for me.
If its the former I'd suggest garlic tabs. That worked for me as well.

Me too! Try to leave your hair alone as much as u can from 7 weeks post. Wear styles that don't require u to comb (u can finger comb), and if u must comb, do so gently and only do the relaxed/texlaxed bits. This reduces my shedding.

Me too! I haven't been able to stretch longer than 7 weeks this year. But, I'm going to try try and try because I stretched longer last year and had much thicker hair.

Next time I'm going to try wild hair growth oil. .. from what I remember it softens newgrowth enough to comb without shedding. (true shedding not breakage)

It's not breakage.... it's shedding ... I see the bulb at the end of the hairs when I pick then up. I have garlic tabs and never took them. I should start right now. Thanks!

I've relaxed twice for the year already. My goal was to only relax 4 times. I've only been able to stretch for 12 weeks 1 time. The last time I went 9 weeks.

Try applying your conditioner relaxer-style if you aren't already. It takes more effort to remove the shed hair when you're stretching so you will notice the amonut of hair more.

I use different types of conditioners designed to do different things and that helped this last stretch...Ex. moisturizing con, breakage cond, and so on...

If you are in fact going to take garlic supplements,be careful. They are a blood thinner,so you may experience headaches, black and blue marks that seem to come out of no where on your body if you gently bump against something. And of course the obvious, bleeding excessively if you cut yourself or have blood taken.

I am Currently 10 Weeks Post and this is where I seriously start listening to My Hair and Adjusting My Regimen Accordingly. I know for me, I am upping my protein and my moisture and keeping those 2 things balanced out.:yep:

Now for my weekly Washes, I will also Co-Wash with either a Protein or Biotin Conditioner for that extra added strength and I will use a reconstructor weekly to keep my hair strong.

I also Henna/Indigo, but it is more for Color. The Extra-Added Bonuses of Henna is a Plus.

Low/No Manipulation Styles (Phony-Bunning) and keeping my Daily Moisture at Optimal Levels will hopefully get me through 16 Weeks successfully.

samething happens to me. I am currently 4 weeks post right now so far the shedding is minimal but once i hit 7 its on!! lol .. I am going under a weave ( will be done by jehan @ www.jehansdesignerhair.com ) next week august 6 in hopes of stretching for atleast for 8 more weeks so i can relax at 12 weeks post .

I have exactly 2 weeks to go to get to 12 weeks. Hopefully I can pull it off. I'm about to go DC with Silk Elements Revive $ Restore Hair Mayonnaise. I've never used this before but it looked good so I'm going to try it.

I've stopped trying to stretch so long because it sets me back. What works for some may not work for all. Do what is best for your hair.

that is very true.

I did not DC like I said I would... got to talking on the phone with moms and then a friend who moved back to the Caribbean. By the time I realized what time it was, I decided against it.

I will do it tomorrow instead

I notice the increased shedding too
The problem is I don't always look at all the hairs to see if any are broken.
I'm at 8 weeks and it is VERY difficult to deal with my hair already.
Maybe try protein?
I'll definitely try buying castor oil. Thanks to who suggested that.
