Ok I have tried these before this summer and I couldn't get the base tight. Research, research and researched and I think I am am able to get the base tight but now the problem is that my twist is too loose and no matter how I try to make them tight the are loose and don't look like kinky twist.

I am off to look at youtube videos to try to figure out what I am doing wrong. I am determined to get this looking right without using too much hair since I can't get to the store to get more ( 20 inches with more coming before the snow stopped tonight).

Any tips would really be appreciated.

TIA,

Raquel

I don't have any tips... I'm not brave enough to try kinky twists on my own but good luck!!!

What method are you used? Starting with a braid or rolling it up to the scalp like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaqWfb3lt-4

I got bored a couple of days and tried it with yarn (I'm going to tackle yarn braids later this month) and it worked well.
