I got a relaxer on August 15th, and I'm massaging my scalp and I feel that little "crinkle" but no real significant new growth! I don't know whats going on.

I've been eating healthy now, drinking water, DC 1 x a week (except last week when I was sick), moisturizing and sealing 2x a day. I'm supposed to be putting up progress pics tommorrow but I'm not really in the mood anymore. I don't think I have any growth. APL seems so far away...

My regimine:
Shampoo/DC/rollerset 1x a week
Scalp massages
moisturizing/sealing and bunning 6x a week

I need to incorporate my vitamins. But what is missing? Oh yea I can't do growth aids, I found out that I was allergic to sulfur but that was the only thing that was really showing significant growth!:wallbash:

Are you taking MSM or using any of the scalp sprays supposed to accelerate growth? I know there are a few people who said that their new growth was unusually softer when using certain scalp sprays (Surge, BT - I'm guessing here; I don't remember) and when they took MSM. So could it be that your new growth is softer than you're used to because of new practices?

Don't be discouraged...your hair is growing... I don't normally feel any significant waves/new growth until about week 5 following a relaxer, particular when my relaxer resulted in super straight/smooth hair. I am now into week 6 post relaxer and it's like the new growth popped in overnight...I don't know why my hair is like that...I just accept that it is. :ohwell: By the time I relax again, in about 6 weeks, the new growth will be darn near unmanageable......
So, don't worry. Just let your hair do its thing.:yep:

You aren't missing anything and you don't need growth aids. Don't focus on your new growth. Focus on retaining length and, before you know it, you will be APL and beyond. Some people's hair growth rate is very slow. I, like you, only have a little stubby of new growth trying to come in after one month. Six months of new growth for me is like 2 months of new growth for some people.

Maybe its because I relax bone straight. I know that its a no-no for many people on the forum but to stretch for 12-16 weeks at this point I feel that its the only way I can manage my hair. Now that I think about it, one day I'll just wake up and my new growth will be out of control but for a while I don't feel anything. But I definently need to focus on retention as well because when I took down braids and a weave I had way more than a TWA of new growth but when I got it relaxed, my ends were so bad and they had to get trimmed and I was like what! When I saw my growth, it wasn't that significant.

A little crinkle sounds about right. 1/2 inch with shrinkage is pretty much nothing. I had my texturizer on august 19th and all I can feel is a little crinkle too. It's growing.

LiLi, this is excellent advice!

LOL Candy C:lachen:I bought them, but I just keep forgetting...All I bought was

Multivitamin for Skin, Hair and Nails
Super B-Complex

Sareca your hair is beautiful!
Blac...yes I know I need to take that advice...

I use to be like that after my relaxers. I started taking vits and I would notice ng within 2 wks. I think you should take some vits. I know it is hard to swallow pills because I hate it myself, but the results are great after a few months. LiLi's advice too should help u get to armpit in no time.:yep:

The other thing that I have found out is that my stress levels affect my hair growth. Either it falls out or no growth. I say relax a bit and keep up with the massages(and take your time with this) because not only will they help your relax and stop stressing but they will stimulate the scalp and the rest is just moisturising and eating well. But dont be discourage. :yep:

Yeah when I'm stressed my hair comes out in clumps.:perplexed And so I know that being stressed out about my hair growing would defeat the whole purpose. I'm going to go somewhere and sit down. LOL
