So I decided to straighten my hair (this is something I do only twice throughout the year) and at first is smooth and silky but 20 min later I can see it start to puff up and mostly at my ends.. Does anyone else have this problem or any suggestions on what to do to prevent this? HELP :(

I believe the issue could most likely be related to the products you are using either up to your actual straightening or immediately after the straightening.

westNDNbeauty did a post a little while ago about adding all the moisture your hair needs for a good flat iron with a DC, and using minimal product and heat during the flat iron.

I don't have specifics about what ingredients but I hope this points you in a good direction.

Good luck.

I haven't straightened in a year so I still have the 8oz nioxin left. But if anything, I will test out my FHI hot sauce and see how that works.

That product has glycerlin in it.. and 2nd ingredient at that. My hair hardly reverts with straightening but glycerlin WILL make my hair revert in 20 minutes. Its the reason I had to toss my beloved garnier fructis blow dry perfector straightening balm for Redken satinwear 02 ultimate blow-dry lotion and Redken power tame 16. But I never used that mix chick product so I wouldn't know

What products did you use in your hair after you deep conditioned when you flat ironed?

Story of my life.
