I'm thinking about this because my sister recommened I use the kinky curly knot today to detangle, and I know Kimay uses it as her all-in-one leave-in/moisturizer.

But I'm wondering if it's enough. Well, not specifically about the KCKT, but more specifically the question above. Thanks.

BTW, detangling is not a huge issue for me unless I wear a fro or puff, and then it's WWIII!

I use both moisturizers : Elasta qp mango butter, Qhemet BRBC, SM Curl enhancing smoothie and leave ins to moisturize: Giovani direct, Aphogee, Aveeno nourish leave in treatment etc....hth

Mine isn't. My leave in is Infusium 21 & my moisture sealer is Cantu Leave in Repair Cream. When I'm really lazy or pressed for time, I'll skip the Infusium, but my hair never feels as good.

Re: Is your "leave-in" conditioner the same as your "moisturize and seal" conditioner

NO. my leave ins will leave a whitish residue when i put it on dry hair. they were made to be put in wet hair. All of my moisturizers aren't strong enough to be used as a leave in on wet hair. They just don't perform the same

Leave-in and moisturizers are the same for me; sealants are oils.

I guess I should have stated that my "leave-in" is water then I put in my Aussie Moist mix and seal with crisco/castor.

But the Aussie Moist hasn't been doing as well, so I switched to Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Repair Cream as recommended by someone who loved it. I love it too. But missbritt1986 the jar that my friend gave me which I've been using shows a different ingredient list than the new jar I just bought at Wal-mart (but haven't tried yet.) Did you find a difference in the formulas on your hair?

Old ingredients:
Water, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Glycine Soja Oil (Soybean), Propylene Glycol, Polyquaternium 37, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, PPG 1 Trideceth 6, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Stearalkonium Chloride, Trimethylsilylamodimethicone, Panthenol, PPG 1 PEG 9 Lauryl Glycol Ether, Lanolin Oil, Cinnamidopropyltrimonium Chloride, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Acrylamidopropyltrimonium Chloride/Acrylamide Copolymer, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Benzophenone 3, BHA, BHT, Zea Mays Oil (Corn), Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, DMDM Hydantoin, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

New Ingredients (can't find online, but the first ingredients are as follows, plus a lot of other changes.)
Water
Canola Oil
Cetearyl Alcohol
Stearalkonium Chloride
Glycerin
Dicetyldimonium Chloride
Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)
Aloe Vera Juice
Tons of extracts...
Tons of other chemical stuff

I just started using Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Repair Cream as my leave in

nope, my leave-ins are too thin & wet. my leave-in is db leave-in. i moisturize with claudie's products ( isha cream, murumuru-acai butter or balancing quinoa-coffee).

I seal after mositurizing with a mix of 3-5 of the following:
olive
coconut
sapote
kukui
castor
meadowfoam

My Leave-Ins and Daily Moisturizers are totally different products.

Most of the L-I's I use are to be applied on Wet/Damp Hair.

The Daily's are more Cream/Water based products to be used on dry Hair or Cream/Oil based.

Some are actually interchangeable tho'.

I use the Creme/Oil based one(s) as Moisturizers and as a Sealer.

Hope that makes sense.

No. My leave-in is Shea Moisture's Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Milk and I only use it when my hair's wet; whereas, my "moisturize and seal" moisturizer is Oyin Handmade's Hair Dew, which is used on dry hair.

I don't moisturize and my main reason for using a leave in is for detangling...never found a good moisturizer and I pretty much give up on that adventure :(

Re: Is your "leave-in" conditioner the same as your "moisturize and seal" conditioner

Yeah it is. I use raw shea butter after washing/conditioning and it's my moisturiser.

Re: Is your "leave-in" conditioner the same as your "moisturize and seal" conditioner

Yes. I use Carefree Curl Gold on wet, damp or dry hair.

Re: Is your "leave-in" conditioner the same as your "moisturize and seal" conditioner

After co-washing I use Ion moisture leave-in sealed with EVCO/grapeseed oil. I don't moisturize between washings...I wash every week.

Re: Is your "leave-in" conditioner the same as your "moisturize and seal" conditioner

yep. i don't have moisturizers...they never really work for me. But I'm still experimenting..

Re: Is your "leave-in" conditioner the same as your "moisturize and seal" conditioner

my leave-in is different from my moisturizer
Keracare leave-in CON Argan Oil leave-in ( use the liquid first, then the cream)
Wave Nouveau Moisturizing Mist (liquid)

i stick with liquids for moisture now. i was using the CON Argan Oil leave-in before i decided to take a chance with WN

My favorite leave in and lustra silk olive oil cholesterol. It's sort of a conditioner but not really. All I know is my hair loves it. When I want my hair to feel moisturized this is what I use over anything else

I love cholesterol as a dc but I never thought I could leave it in hmmmm something to think about:)

my leave ins are the same as my moisturizers

Re: Is your "leave-in" conditioner the same as your "moisturize and seal" conditioner

No, although they could be the same. My moisturizer is Darcy's Coconut Lemongrass Transitioning Creme and it works great on wet or dry hair. I just don't like the feeling of putting creams in my wet hair... it's not something I can explain lol. I prefer liquid-y stuff for my wet hair so my leave ins are SSI Coco Creme & SSI Tahitian Vanilla. I've recently been trying out Darcy's Daily Leave-in too, but it doesn't have much slip.

Wow, really? Sorry to hear that. So if you don't mind answering, what products are you using, and how is your hair progressing? 20Something

Never considered that either. Interesting! I'll keep that in my memory bank!

Hmm...I have both of these things, I'll have to try them together.

Re: Is your "leave-in" conditioner the same as your "moisturize and seal" conditioner

Yup I use Suave Tropical Coconut. I cowash with it, leave it in and then seal. I add it to a spray bottle + water + oil and use it as my moisturizer. Sometimes I'll water rinse and then rub it in as my leave in and seal. Trying to KISS my way to health and growth ;)

Re: Is your "leave-in" conditioner the same as your "moisturize and seal" conditioner

Yes. In fact i don't really "moisturize" anymore....i do every now and then. But bc i wear my hair curly most of the time, i use either conditioners or a moisturizer as a leave-in under my styler. If for some reason my hair gets super dry throughout the day, i put a little bit of moisturizer on it.

I use old formula long herbal essences long term relationship leave in for a leave in..soon will have to find another leave in. If my hair gets dry I just co wash or DC been working out find this way for a year and a half now too. Had a lot of bad luck with glycerine in leave in products and it seems to be in sooo many.. I just stay away.

Re: Is your "leave-in" conditioner the same as your "moisturize and seal" conditioner

No my leave-in is mostly water. It's the leave in that came w/ my relaxer. I really love that stuff.

And I just started using Profectiv for my daily moisture. It's done pretty good in the past, it would just revert my texlaxed hair before since it's water-based. Now that I'm more relaxed, it doesn't do that as much; I still lay a lil scarf on it for good measure though.

I usually only apply oyin hair dew as a leave in after I'm done cowashing. However, for daily moisturizing and sealing I just use water and coconut oil.

Yep. My leave-in/moisturizer is Giovanni Nutrafix with some added glycerin. I seal with Vaseline.
