Went to Dominican salon about a month ago for a blow out. Kept hair straight longer than usual. Used only a hot comb in the front, never touched the back.

Co-Washed my hair and noticed my curls weren't 100% back. Did a deep conditioning and used a shea moisture hair mask and this is what I got. I ran a denman through my hair and got nothing.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to cut my hair that I've been growing for 10 yrs!! Help!!

Is that from just 1 Dominican blowout? It looks like it’s heat damaged babe. I got Dominican blowouts biweekly for months and my damage wasn’t as severe. I have coarse hair though. Yours looks pretty fine

Do you have 'before' pics. It does look like heat damage. The curls you created in the other thread look good though. I would take the good advice given here and pamper you hair for a while with strong protein and moisture.

Unfortunately that's heat damage :(. The difference from my roots to ends looks very similar. My curl pattern won't come back. Instead of big chopping, you could transition and cut when you reach a certain length. Check out Youtube for some ladies who've transitioned.

I agree you don't have to big chop. Just do protein every 4 to 6 weeks and take off an 1/2 inch to an inch on the same schedule.

Thank you ladies. As horrible as it is to hear, I think you're all right. I'll have to baby my hair and trim slowly.

It was just one blowout, I had had one earlier in the year but it reverted with no issues. I don't know what's different this time.
This is my hair normally. Again, i thank you all for the advice and assistance. I am truly grateful.

This same thing happened to a friend of mine. She was getting silk presses done to her hair and after 3 or 4 of them, she had to start cutting her hair off little by little because of the amount of heat damage. It looked really good at first but after a while, her long, beautiful hair was looking very unhealthy.

I am very sorry this happened to you and I see you have already been given some awesome advice about the protein treatments followed by deep moisture treatments for a few weeks to maybe even months just to make sure that the undamaged hair stays on your head.

All the best getting your hair healthy again @ilah .

Your hair is beautiful in this pic and don't worry, you will get it back.
